上週日在孕力講座中講到孕婦什麼都可吃的時候,有媽媽分享最近食藥署的公告,使用蘆薈葉作為原料之食品時,由於其內含的蘆薈素(aloin)有安全之疑慮,未來包裝上必須標示「不建議經期婦女、孕婦、授乳者、孩童、消化道或肝腎疾病患者食用」的警語字樣。
我一向很在意社會上各種「孕婦專屬」的禁忌是否合理,一看到馬上研究了一堆相關報導。看了發現,這個警示中,還是有些地方可能導致孕婦誤會,覺得有必要做些提醒說明。
**蘆薈飲不含蘆薈素,孕婦可安心飲用
先說結論,公告所提到可能導致安全問題的蘆薈素,主要存在於蘆薈的葉子,因此成分來源為蘆薈果肉的蘆薈飲或蘆薈丁,就不含蘆薈素,孕婦當然可以安心食用。這次食藥署規定需加上警語的產品,主要是針對市面上萃取蘆薈葉製成的膠囊、錠劑,並非這些飲食中常見的食材。
**蘆薈素可能引發宮縮,但與流產、早產、傷子宮無關
那究竟為什麼含蘆薈素的食品「經期婦女、孕婦、授乳者」不能吃?其實主要是是許多研究發現,長期大量使用蘆薈素會誘發宮縮,劇烈腹瀉。因此,經期來的女性食用可能會讓經痛加劇、孕婦則可能會產生宮縮不適。至於哺乳媽媽,則是擔心母乳中的蘆薈素會造成新生兒腹瀉腸胃不適。也就是說,不建議這三個族群使用的原因主要是擔心服用後可能引發的不適。
但,這並不表示月經來時,吃到蘆薈素就會傷子宮、流產。我看食藥署在新聞稿中提及「孕婦宮縮會造成流產或早產」可能有點是過度延伸了。畢竟,流產的主要原因是胚胎不正常,早產的主因為感染、子宮頸閉鎖不全,如果僅是服用食品所引起的宮縮,不可能會引發早產。過去婦產科研究中,也從未有吃了蘆薈素食品而早產、流產的案例。
所以,如果孕婦不小心吃了這些東西,若沒引起不適,也不必就開始自我責怪、擔心流產或趕緊躺著安胎。至於哺乳媽媽,如果不小心誤食,也只需要觀察小孩是否有腸胃道症狀,無須過度擔心。
總而言之。我認為根本不可能吃了這類保健食品就流產,但這些產品本來就沒有不可取代的好處,何必要吃了再徒增擔心。尤其是腸胃容易不適、易宮縮的孕婦,或是已經被醫師提醒有早產跡象的媽媽。
不過,其實不管是否懷孕,我都認為購買這類保健食品時需更謹慎。因為仔細看研究,在實驗室中也曾發現高劑量的蘆薈素在老鼠身上有致癌的風險,也曾有人長期服用導致肝功能異常。因此如果想靠服用蘆薈素養生、或解決某些身體困擾,不妨考慮其他方式。像是若單純是要補充膳食纖維,我會建議以天然的蔬果為主,若有便秘問題不如請醫師開利軟便劑,瀉藥,都比長期使用含蘆薈素的保健食品來的安全又省錢。
食藥署為保護民眾規定廠商加警語當然立意良善,只不過如果沒說明清楚,很可能造成孕婦的恐慌,也會強化大眾對孕婦早產、流產一定是吃錯東西的迷思。其實孕婦只要不煙不酒,任何食物適量攝取不過量,根本沒這麼多飲食禁忌。

食藥署預告訂定「食品原料蘆薈之使用限制及標示規定」草案,表示未來蘆薈要當作食品原料的話,必須是完全去皮後的費拉蘆薈(A. vera)及好望角蘆薈(A. ferox)品種的葉子,才能加工使用。同時蘆薈素(aloin)的含量不可以超過10 ppm,並且必須標示「不建議經期婦女、孕婦、授乳者、孩童、消化道或肝腎疾病患者食用」警語字樣,草案預定自後年元旦、也就是2022年1月1日生效。

Vitamin C vs Aloe Vera during this Pandemic & Flu seasons.
Vitamin C is good for body, no doubt in it. It has many physiological functions such as taking part in collagen synthesis, wound healing, mucous membrane, iron absorption etc. And, we also know it as an Anti-Oxidant.
RDA of Vitamin C is 60 mg. Now question is does Vitamin C offer Anti-Oxidant properties at this dose?
