"จริงหรือ ที่แอพ Voila แปลงหน้าเป็นการ์ตูน สามารถจะแฮ็คบัญชีคุณได้ ?"

มีการแชร์คำเตือนกันว่า ห้ามใช้แอพ Voila (วัวล่า) บนมือถือเพราะมันจะทำให้มิจฉาชีพสามารถเข้าถึงบัญชีของคุณได้ ด้วยการเจาะผ่านการจดจำใบหน้า (face recognition) !?

คำตอบคือ ไม่จริงหรอกครับ มันไม่ได้อันตรายขนาดนั้น ! แต่ๆ ๆ ก็มีประเด็นให้ต้องระวัง ต้องพิจารณาก่อนจะใช้แอพนี้ นะครับ

คำเตือนที่แชร์กันเป็นภาษาอังกฤษ จะพูดทำนองว่า "การใช้ app นี้มีความเสี่ยงต่อความปลอดภัยในการใช้มือถือของคุณ เป็นอย่างยิ่ง เนื่องจากคุณได้ให้ภาพใบหน้าที่ชัดเจนไป ในขณะที่ แอพนี้ก็ขอเข้าถึงข้อมูลต่างๆ ใน facebook ของคุณด้วย ทำให้มิจฉาชีพสามารถเอาภาพใบหน้า และข้อมูลของคุณ ไปใช้ทำธุรกรรมต่างๆ ได้ ผ่านการฟิชชิ่ง (phishing) จนมีคนเสียทรัพย์สินไปกันเยอะแล้ว"

#มารู้จักกับแอพVoila

Voila AI Artist เป็นแอพพลิเคชั่นตกแต่งภาพถ่าย ที่มีทั้งบน iOS และ Android โดยใช้ปัญญาประดิษฐ์ เอไอ (artificial intelligence) การเปลี่ยนภาพของคุณให้กลายเป็นภาพการ์ตูนแบบต่างๆ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นภาพวาดยุคเรเนสซองส์ ภาพการ์ตูนของพิกซ่า ภาพการ์ตูนของดิสนีย์ และอื่นๆ โดยกำลังได้รับความนิยมเป็นอย่างสูงในตอนนี้

แอพนี้เป็นแอพใช้ฟรี แต่จะมีโฆษณาแถมติดมาด้วย ซึ่งถ้าสมัครสมาชิก (ราคาตั้งแต่ $3 จนถึง $30) โฆษณาก็จะถูกเอาออก และการแปลงภาพก็จะเร็วขึ้น

#ความปลอดภัยของข้อมูลจากการใช้แอพVoila

ประการแรก จริงๆ แล้ว ทุกแอพโทรศัพท์มือถือที่ขอเอารูปหน้าของคุณไปนั้น คุณจำเป็นจะต้องใช้มันด้วยความระมัดระวังด้วยเสมอ .. ซึ่งคำชี้แจงของแอพ Voila บอกไปว่ามันจะลบรูปภาพของคุณภายใน 24 ถึง 48 ชั่วโมง (ซึ่งไม่มีทาง ที่เราจะตรวจสอบได้ว่ามันทำอย่างนั้นจริงหรือเปล่า)

ประกันที่ 2 คือ แอพนี้มีการรวบรวมข้อมูลต่างๆ จาก facebook ของคุณไป จริง โดยเอาไปใช้วิเคราะห์สำหรับการทำ ad targeting หรือการส่งโฆษณาให้คุณแบบตรงเป้า

แต่ก็ค่อนข้างเป็นแนวทางที่แอพอื่นๆ ก็ใช้กันโดยทั่วไป ซึ่งก็เป็นสิ่งที่เราควรต้องระมัดระวังในทุกๆ แอพอยู่แล้ว ไม่ใช่เฉพาะในแอพ Voila นี้

#แล้วคำเตือนของแอปVoilaที่แชร์กันอยู่ล่ะ

คำเตือนที่แชร์กันอยู่นั้น แยกแยะได้เป็น 3 ประเด็นคือ
(1) การให้รูปถ่ายของคุณกับแอป Voila จะทำให้บุคคลที่ 3 สามารถเปิดบัญชี ในชื่อของคุณได้ (2) คุณสูญเสียการควบคุมเรื่องการจดจำใบหน้า (facial recognition control)
และ (3) คุณยอมให้บุคคลที่ 3 เข้าถึงข้อมูลส่วนตัวของคุณ

ซึ่งข้อ 3 นั้นก็เป็นไปอย่างที่พูดไปแล้วว่า มันเป็นเรื่องปกติ .... แต่ข้อ 1 กับข้อ 2 นั้นยังไม่มีข้อพิสูจน์ว่าเกิดขึ้นจริง อย่างที่แชร์เตือนกัน

สำหรับคำเตือนข้อ 1 นั้น จะพบว่า แอพ Voila พัฒนาโดยบริษัท Wemagine.AI. ซึ่งระบุนโยบายว่า ได้กำหนดให้แพลตฟอร์ม Google Cloud Platform ทำการลบภาพและข้อมูลต่างๆ ที่เกี่ยวกับภาพนั้น ภายใน 24-48 ชั่วโมงหลังจากที่ภาพถูกนำมาใช้กับแอพ (เพื่อให้คุณยังมีเวลากลับมาดัดแปลงแก้ไขรูปนั้นได้)

จนถึงตอนนี้ ก็ยังไม่พบว่ามีรายงานของการที่บริษัท Wemagine.AI ได้นำเอารูปถ่ายของลูกค้าไปใช้เปิดบัญชีปลอม บัญชีโคลน ใน social network ใดๆ (ซึ่งจริงๆ การทำบัญชีปลอมมันง่ายมาก แค่ก็อปปี้รูปจากบัญชีจริง มาทำ ก็ได้)

ส่วนประเด็นคำเตือนข้อ 2 นั้น ก็ไม่มีหลักฐานว่าเคยเกิดขึ้นจริงเช่นกัน และความจริงแล้ว การนำเอารูปถ่ายที่มีระดับความละเอียดปานกลาง มาใช้เพื่อเจาะผ่านระบบการจดจำใบหน้านั้น ก็ยังแทบเป็นเรื่องที่เป็นไปไม่ได้ ยกเว้นจะมีภาพที่มีความละเอียดสูงสุดๆ

#โดยสรุป แม้ว่าการลง application ต่างๆ บนโทรศัพท์มือถือ จะต้องระมัดระวังกันอยู่แล้วว่าจะถูกนำเอาข้อมูลส่วนตัวไปใช้ โดยเฉพาะเรื่องการลงโฆษณา .... แต่ข้อกล่าวหาว่า แอพ Voila นี้ จะเอาภาพใบหน้าคุณไปใช้แฮ็กบัญชี ผ่านการจดจำใบหน้าได้นั้น ไม่ได้เป็นเรื่องจริง อย่างที่แชร์คำเตือนกันครับ !

史丹佛大學「以人為本」的人工智慧研究所（HAI）上周發表了2021 AI Index，揭露2020年全球在人工智慧（AI）領域上的發展，指出中國研究被AI期刊引用的數量已超越美國，從許多方面來看，中國與美國在AI發展上已旗鼓相當。

根據艾倫人工智慧研究所（Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence，AI2）的統計，中國於AI期刊上所發表的論文數量在2006年就已經超越了美國，AI2認為，論文數量的多寡並不等同於品質，應該藉由論文被引用的次數作為判斷論文品質的依據，而2018年時，在最常被引用論文的前10%中，美國仍占了29%，中國則是26.5%，當時AI2即預期，中國AI論文的品質即將迎頭趕上美國，現在2021 AI Index即證實了AI2的論點。

2021 AI Index的數據顯示，全球去年所發表的AI期刊論文中，中國占了18%，居次的是美國的12.3%，歐盟則是8.6%。而在最常被引用的論文中，中國首度超越美國，占比20.7%，美國為19.8%，歐盟則是11%。

更精確的說法是，在同儕審查期刊中，中國學者被引用的數量已經超過其他國家的學者，顯示出中國AI研究不論是在數量或品質上都大有進展，至於美國也有擅場，美國AI會議論文被引用的次數則大幅領先中國。

AI Index聯合主持人Jack Clark表示，隨著AI技術持續快速進步，AI已對全球帶來重大影響，此外，他們的文獻計量分析顯示，從許多方面來看，美國與中國在AI發展上已旗鼓相當。

此一研究其它的發現還包括：對AI人才需求最高（相對其它人才）的前五個國家依序是新加坡、美國、加拿大、澳洲及紐西蘭；去年全球主要的私人AI投資領域依序為醫藥、電動車、教育、開源/運算，以及語音辨識/機器翻譯；拿到博士學位的AI專家有65.7%投入產業，只有23.7%進入學術界，前者的比重在這10年來增加了48%，後者則下滑了44%，AI教授也持續被挖角到企業任職；企業主導了AI研究人員所使用的工具，包括由Google釋出的TensorFlow與Keras，或是臉書的PyTorch，都是GitHub上最熱門的框架。
