Let’s take a look at Bangkok Metropolitan mass transit systems master plan according to the recent phase 2 master plan with 643.47 km of total distances which is the most comprehensive mass transit networks in Southeast Asia.
Currently, There are 5 mass transit lines in Bangkok Metropolitan covering Bangkok, Nonthaburi and Samut Prakarn provinces with 111 km of total distances including,
• BTS Skytrain Light Green Line (Sukhumvit Line) : 23.5 km
• BTS Skytrain Dark Green Line (Silom Line) : 14.7 km
• MRT Blue Line : 21 km
• MRT Purple Line : 23 km
• Suvarnabhumi Airport Rail Link (ARL) City Line : 28.6 km
Recently approved and under construction projects including,
• BTS Skytrain Light Green Line south extension (Samrong – Samut Prakarn section)
• BTS Skytrain Light Green Line north extension (Mo Chit – Saphan Mai – Khu Khot section) : 19 km
• MRT Blue Line extension (Bang Sue – Tha Phra and Hua Lumphong - Lak Song sections) : 14 km +13 km
• MRT Purple Line south extension (Tao Poon – Rat Burana section) : 23.6 km
• MRT Orange Line (Min Buri – Thailand Cultural Centre section) : 20 km
