有「除非」就不是「都可以」
就不是絕對的自由

半夜彈琴的人是錯的 睡覺的人是對的
室內吸菸的人是錯的 拒絕二手菸的人是有權利的
多數通過的決策是榮耀的 被否決的少數是被犧牲的
.
如果自由必須「不妨礙他人的自由」
那是彈琴的人妨礙睡覺自由？
還是睡覺的人妨礙彈琴自由？

現行的法治制度和有限度的自由
或許是穩定社會的黃金比例
但我心裡明白這不是完全的自由
是我們的柔軟的合群與善意的妥協

With the presence of an “except”, it’s not “anything”, and that isn’t true freedom.

The person playing the piano in the middle of the night is in the wrong, and the one sleeping is in the right.
The person smoking indoors is in the wrong, and the one who is against secondhand smoke is in the right.
The majority of policies that are passed are glorious, and the minority that are vetoed are sacrificed.

If freedom includes “not impeding on the freedoms of others,” then was it the person playing the piano impeding on the rights of the sleeping one?
Or was it the sleeping man impeding on the rights of the piano player?

Legal systems currently in effect with limited liberty may be the golden ratio, but I clearly understand from deep within that it’s not complete freedom.
This is the soft compromise we make for both our social nature and our good intentions.
