【智華館下星期一起改善保安系統 出入均須拍卡】
Mrs. Antoinette Kelly (Associate Director, Learning Environments of Learning Environment Services) 於昨天（三月十七日）就智華館保安系統的改善工作在 HKU Portal 發出通知。通知指，由於近月未經授權進入智華館的人士數量增加，同時學生財物被盜竊的情況亦增多。有見及此，智華館現時的出入系統需要改善。
現時智華館有十四個出入口，當中大部分閘口沒有職員看守。由於有不少出口是運用感應系統開啟閘門而不需使用學生證，導致即使不用拍卡也能夠進入和離開智華館。故此，由下星期一起（三月二十日），除了正門的出口外，不需拍卡的出閘口將會停止使用，而進出入口一律需要拍卡。

Over recent months we have seen a considerable increase in the number of unauthorized people accessing the Chi Wah Learning Commons, at the same time we have also experienced an increase in the theft of student property.
The Chi Wah Learning Commons has 14 entrances/exits many of which are unstaffed, although they are monitored via CCTV. The current system has a number of “free exit” gates which enable you to leave the CWLC without swiping your HKU ID card. We are told by our Security Office that these gates can be easily manipulated to allow entry to the CWLC without using an HKU ID card.
As a result of these issues we are making changes to the current access control system.
The entry gates have been adjusted to facilitate swipe entry AND swipe exit and will come into operation on Monday 20th March.
Most of the “free exit” gates will be disabled at the same time. The only exception to this will be the gate at the Main Entrance which for safety reasons (it is located at the bottom of a flight of stairs) will remain in operation.
