Nanaimo bars食譜:
Bottom Layer
½ cup unsalted butter
¼ cup sugar
5 tbsp. cocoa
1 egg beaten
1 ¼ cups graham wafer crumbs
½ c. finely chopped almonds
1 cup coconut
Melt first 3 ingredients in top of double boiler. Add egg and stir to cook and thicken. Remove from heat. Stir in crumbs, coconut, and nuts. Press firmly into an ungreased 8" x 8" pan.
Second Layer
½ cup unsalted butter
2 Tbsp. and 2 Tsp. cream
2 Tbsp. vanilla custard powder
2 cups icing sugar
Cream butter, cream, custard powder, and icing sugar together well. Beat until light. Spread over bottom layer.
Third Layer
4 squares semi-sweet chocolate (1 oz. each)
2 Tbsp. unsalted butter
Melt chocolate and butter over low heat. Cool. Once cool, but still liquid, pour over second layer and chill in refrigerator.

It’s been so long since we upload a shopping video. This time, we took Alex to ToysRUs, pencil in hand, to try to figure out what he wanted for Christmas. A lot of parents do this in the States, and end up having a great time in the toy store. Since Alex is learning phonics right now I thought this would also be a good opportunity to teach him about the importance of writing.
I hope to be able to upload lots of Christmas content as we head into December 24th. I’d love to make a video about Christmas décor on a budget in Japan, how we use Christmas stockings, etc. I’m especially excited about a “special guest” I’m going to have on my channel on Christmas Eve.
I’d also like to upload at least one current Daily Routine kind of video just because how we spend our day has changed so dramatically from two months ago!
