楊絳曾透露錢鍾書過目不忘，出口成文的秘密：「他只是好讀書，肯下功夫，不僅讀，還做筆記；不僅讀一遍兩遍，還會讀三遍四遍，筆記上不斷添補。所以他讀的書雖然多，也不易遺忘。」
Call it筆記、札記，又或者commonplace book，其實背後都是同一種目的：紀錄自己認為有用的東西，例如金句、資料、數據、觀察、靈感、剪報，再加以整理組織以備不時之需。
錢鍾書用筆記簿，前美國總統列根愛用notecard，Bill Gates直頭開個網站叫Gates Notes。現在就更簡單了，一個google drive或者evernote都搞得掂。筆記的形式不限，唯一需要的是一套系統。
關鍵是目錄與詞彙表，再三整理筆記裏頭的內容，不停分類重構直至自己能夠理解及運用。白宮發言人Kayleigh McEnany的「筆記」，其實就是這樣來的。看似容易，背後功夫不少。

It is not necessary to have a journal dedicated for daily affirmations, but I find myself feeling safe and secured by doing so. Keep it as a daily practice, write a line or two of affirmations to eliminate fear, anxiety and doubts. It might not be a instant magic, but it certainly helps.
