In another world, we would be on a night flight towards our family holiday right about now. Our first family holiday of four, a trip we had looked forward to so badly. Boon and I had happily talked about how we wanted to make it really memorable for Tyler and make it one of his core memories growing up, how we wanted to spend a lot of time making meals together, letting the boys crawl and run at the park, and just take a good, slow break. I would be lying if I told you we weren’t disappointed that our trip didn’t happen, and I know we’re not the only ones we had to cancel a holiday. We know some of you who had to cancel an overseas pre-wedding shoot and a wedding that you had to postpone which you had spent months and probably a year dreaming and planning for. Some of you have lost business deals and money along the way, with clients that bailed and demanded for refunds. While some of you just really, really just miss home, family, friends and are feeling lonely. I’m not here for a pity party, because I never believed in one. But I’m here to tell you that it’s okay to feel how you feel right now- disappointed, hurt, and even maybe angry at the situation, at how things have become. All your feelings right now? They’re valid, and they’re real. And the only way to feel better and move forward is to acknowledge that they are real, that you are feeling them, and just allow yourself to grieve over them. Take time to let yourself heal and recover, because it is after you heal that you can rise up and keep going. The best (and probably worst) part of all these? You’re not the only one who’s experiencing this sucky feeling! We all are somewhat affected, somewhat disappointed and somewhat hurt by what’s happening. The happy thing is- that pre-wedding shoot, that wedding, that family holiday, and that next business deal, that next family reunion will never feel the same again. When you get there when all this is over, you will feel such sense of accomplishment and VICTORY, because you have waited and anticipated and you’re finally there. The joy, the excitement, the fulfilment will be doubled, tripled, and I’m excited for the day we all feel that way. Soon enough ♥️
