Yesterday I was invited to co host a mandarin talk show on local tv. as usual I still had the jitters and butterflies in my tummy.
I was paired with an experienced host and interviewed 2 malay ladies, a prominent news anchor and the secretary to the Malaysian embassy in Beijing who both speaks mandarin eloquently. I had nightmares the nite before, what if they all realised my mandarin is not as good as what people made it out to be ( Alhamdullilah , HE was kind and the show went well)
but 1 thing that stuck to me was when both host and guest said they watched my shows “growing up”.( I’m actually getting used to that) .. and the host for the show called me “前辈” senior or elder ..
I was not offended nor was I taken a back. But it got me emotional and a wave of gratitude hit me hard. HE has been merciful towards me, Time has been gracious with me, You have been extremely kind to me.
I lay in bed thinking how lucky I am still out there . Traveling , exploring, creating, gathering stories to tell.. pushing my boundaries. Achieving goals .. never would I imagine holding 2 global titles “GoPro Ambassador” & “PADI Ambassadiver” . Never have I imagined making a living from doing the things that I love doing.. never had I imagined being loved by You.
I always believed Age is just a number and wrinkles does not bring with it maturity. I am 40, as long as HE wills I will continue to explore, gather and insyallah create..
thank you for all the birthday wishes and love sent my way. You might not even read this .. but It’s my 40th & this “前辈” is declaring a 1 year birthday celebration !!
