In all seriousness I recently went to get my heart checked out because I noticed something wasn’t quite right…
This made me get very anxious which as a result increased my heart rate even more when I had these concerns.
So to make sure everything was 100% I did a full heart check up at the doctors and luckily I was given the all clear 🙏
Apparently I was just super paranoid and had a little bit of anxiety which mentally made me think my heart was beating faster than usual 😅
But when I spoke to the doctor, he mentioned that some people he had seen have had certain health related issues that they have simply ignored for years , not got checked and then as a result suffered long term effects because they didn’t get checked out / treated sooner.
I don’t know why but in the last few years I’ve heard many really unfortunate stories about young people passing away due to health related issues that they had no awareness about…
I know somebody that had no previous health problems that sadly passed away in their sleep because it turned out they had something wrong with their heart..😞
So I suppose the point I am trying to make here ..is that you can’t put a price on your health. It’s probably the most important thing you can try and personally look after.
So even if you feel the slightest pain or if you feel like something isn’t quite right…don’t wait around and assume everything will be ok.
Just get checked out so that you can be reassured & also to make sure there is nothing wrong 🙏
Life is very short nowadays…and we should always try to live it to the fullest by being aware of our health!

The pandemic gave me = thyroid AND a baby!
I will be the last one to preach to you about how you should be feeling throughout this pandemic. The last more than 1 year has sent me spiralling into all sorts of extremes! Highs, lows, uncertainties, you name it! Strange or timely depending on how you look at it, things finally settled this month -I am in a safer stage of the pregnancy, my thyroid levels relatively under control - in time for Thyroid Awareness Month.
Dec 2019
My thyroid levels were through the roof! That was disgnosed with Graves Disease and started my thyroid treatment journey with an endocrinologist

Hyped to make the most of things! Not letting ANYTHING get in my way of being POSITIVE and to hustle! I was determined to combat thyroid and emerge a warrior! "Just watch me world!"
(At the peak of it, almost weekly visit to the hospital to see the endocrinologist +ophtalmologist. Most times 2 drs in a day).

Thyroid levels started to stabilise under treatment (Still going to hospital at least once/ month)
CMCO
We got pregnant!
Anxiety levels went through the roof again. Motivation for hustling dwindled.
Hospital visits increased again as we needed to asses the risks of thyroid + pregnancy.
Peak point – I was seeing 5 different drs to decide which course to go with, to have a safe pregnancy and to keep thyroid levels under control. My mind was not in a very good place.

Here we are at week 21 of pregnancy, ready to talk about it. And guess what - it's Thyroid Awareness month!
If anything, this has taught me that
You are not alone
You will get throug this
Talking about it helps
So I will be talking to my dr on a wide range of thyroid related topics over the coming weeks. I hope this can help, in any way possible, if you think you may be going through the same thing, or something similar to me.
If you feel unusually depressed, demotivated, or anxious, unsettled, it doesn’t hurt to check further.

Join Maisie and I as we share some efficient ways to cope with Anxiety.
Remember the last time your heart started to beat really fast before meeting someone for the first time or when your hands started to sweat before giving a presentation?
Next time you feel anxious, try to do this simple exercise! Try the 5,4,3,2,1 practice and find:
5 things you see
4 things you touch
3 things you hear
2 things you touch
1 things you taste
I personally find that this exercise is very helpful to take my mind off the thoughts and things which are making me feel anxious! This practice is especially useful because we mainly get anxious when our mind begins to start thinking in a loop, we may have unnecessary thoughts making us even more anxious. To break this cycle, we may use this practice. It helps us to detach from those thoughts and feelings for a moment, and to bring ourselves back to the present. By doing so, we break the unhealthy cycle and tune into the present and effectively calming ourselves down.
Remember, never blame yourself or feel guilty for having these feelings. Being anxious is a human emotion! Instead, let’s take the time to be aware of them and neutralise it. Whether it’s through the 5-4-3-2-1 exercise or through mindful activities such as running, colouring, reading, listening to music or meditation, let’s strive to take care of ourselves and our emotions!
