Seven Signs that Inspire Faith in Jesus
“Therefore Jesus did many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written, that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name.” (John 20:30-31 WEB)
Whenever you believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, you receive a fresh infusion of life.
The word for “life” in Greek is “zóé” which can refer to both physical and spiritual life.
In other words, when you have faith in Jesus the Son of God who was sent by Abba God to be the atoning sacrifice for your sins, you are receiving more life.
Aging, weakness, sickness and ugliness are all manifestations of death.
The opposite of death is life. So when you have faith in Jesus, you’re actually becoming younger, stronger, healthier and more physically beautiful.
There’s something special about the signs (miracles) recorded in the Gospel of John that inspires faith.
Some foods are good for you, but some foods, such as blueberries, are classified as “superfoods” because they are extra rich in vitamins and antioxidants. All of God’s word is good for you, but some portions of Scripture are like superfoods.
There’s only seven signs in the Gospel of John, and they are:
1. Changing water into wine at Cana in John 2:1-11 - "the first of the signs"
2. Healing the nobleman’s son in Capernaum in John 4:46-54
3. Healing the paralytic at Bethesda in John 5:1-15
4. Feeding the 5000 in John 6:5-14
5. Jesus walking on water in John 6:16-24
6. Healing the man blind from birth in John 9:1-7
7. The raising of Lazarus in John 11:1-45
Anytime you need to cast out unbelief so that you can be in faith, consider re-visiting any one of these miraculous signs that speaks to your situation.
These are only called “signs” in John’s Gospel. Signs point to something, and in this case, they point to Jesus being the Christ and Son of God.
Let these signs usher you into faith—you’ll become younger and younger as a result!
