Within the infamous【Chung King Mansion 重慶大廈, Hong Kong 🇭🇰 🇮🇳】, there were peak & trough periods during the last few decades here. For a time spanning over 10 years, I think some Indian & Pakistani vendors moved on in a nomad way, the quality also became lax dropped, due to its influx of overseas tourists arriving to experience its fame from the HK Movies 🎥, or for cheap AirBnB Hostels accommodation. But somehow some of us have been monitoring it yearly just to check (the downstairs Chaat Street Food selections are out of this world outside of India, but occasionally I did get a tummy ache) , but upstairs proper restaurants wise we think it might just be making a come back recently!

In this case, even Covid probably did helped it a bit, as it is re-igniting the passion of the Indian community living here in HK, or those who are temporarily seeking refuge from the Delta variant!? 🤔 Even the Breads in this shop was done exceptionally well, a rare sight

If u follow the history of Lai Fun rice noodles 🍜, there were 4 main competitors in Canton 廣東省, and if u traveled around in Canton Province and in both GZ or Hong Kong & nearby, there are a few speciality cases of their own expressions. But Race wise it was a recipe passed down from #瑤人 , 傳給俾 #漢人 . Funny thing is this is right here available in Hong Kong too. At the same time the CCP is trying to wipe out any memories of the past Different Chinese regions and their histories, trying to dilute their origins, historical significance & what belonged to them. I won't allow this to happen at all via Food History alone. Go and try

For this video, we headed back to Neo’s Kitchen to complete a 6KG Ichiran Ramen Challenge! Ichiran Ramen is a popular Fukuoka Ramen chain almost exclusively based in Japan, with limited outlets in Taiwan, USA and Hong Kong. They specialise in Tonkotsu-style Ramen, which is pork-based. As they do not have a physical location in Singapore, we opted for their own Instant Ramen brand that is supposedly very close to the in-store Ichiran Ramen in flavour. For our convenience and to take advantage of their exclusive discount on Ichiran Ramen, we ordered most of our ingredients from Qoo10 and had them delivered to our doorstep. Here is what we got from Qoo10:

The Ichiran Ramen box came elegantly designed and packed while the char siew and eggs had straightforward instructions for preparation. After some time in the kitchen and a speedy assembly process, we ended up with a massive 6KG bowl of Ichiran Ramen. 10 portions of noodles were piled into our Giant Bowl, which was then filled to the brim with the Tonkotsu broth. 6 sliced eggs and 2 blocks of char siew were gingerly placed on top to round off the dish. The bowl was delicately garnished with spring onions, seaweed and rehydrated fungus. Unfortunately, we had difficulty cutting the char siew, so we opted to leave 1 intact.

Flavour-wise, it is probably one of the best Instant noodles I have ever had. It was rich with the deep and intense pork flavour you come to expect from Tonkotsu Ramen from restaurants. The noodles had a clean flavour without any taste of preservatives and retained their springy texture even after sitting in the broth for some time. It also came with a topping of chilli powder, which adds a strong spicy kick for those who enjoy it. The eggs were well-marinated and gooey in the middle. The char siew was moist and tender with the signature savoury pork flavour of good char siew.

All in all, it was an enjoyable challenge because it was homemade, delicious and convenient thanks to Qoo10. We tend to find ourselves needing instant noodles eventually, usually in the dead of the night or as comfort food, and you would be hard-pressed to find any better than this Instant Ichiran Ramen. Hi everybody!

Ok so I think I've pretty much caught up on all my sleep. I think I must've had less than 10 hours sleep throughout my 1 week stay in LA. Been sleeping constantly since my return back to Hong Kong. Happy to say I think i am 100% regenerated OUSSSEEE!

So as promised, I did lots of vlogging throughout my trip (iMac keeps autocorrecting Vlogging to Blogging. GET WITH IT!!! Argh) so today, here is my 1st LA Vlog for you all.

You may be able to recognise some of your favourite you tubers in this video too ^_~ If you went to the Meet & Greet, you might even see yourself hehe!

Thank you to everybody who came to the Meet & Greet. I got there 30 minutes early and was about to have a quick dander into TopShop (LOL) but a lot of you guys were already there. Needless to say, we got kicked out by security and we ended up migrating (as a group lol so funny) to a nearby park. I was worried many would not be able to find me since I don't have internet on my phone but thank goodness a lot of you somehow got to the new location. It was a beautiful day and I met the most beautiful people. Some members of the team were a little concerned about safety wise but I KNEW that it would be a fun safe day.
Thank you so much for making all the effort to see me. It was definitely THE ultimate highlight of my trip. Such a precious day. I'll never forget it.

I'm sorry it's been a whole week since my last vlog. Got more coming up to make up for my time away. I missed you guys so so much ^_^
