金寶（Jambolina）是一隻烏克蘭的熊，自出生起就在馬戲團。沒有演出的時候，她都被關在和體型差不多大的籠子裡，如此長達11年。
　　
因為疫情的關係，馬戲團經營困難，金寶藉由動物救援組織「四爪」（Four Paws）的幫助，重回了大自然。
　　
常覺得人類真是自私。也在想，長達11年的囚禁之後，金寶要面臨大自然嚴峻的考驗，她是喜歡還是不喜歡呢？開心又或者是焦慮困惑？
　　
幸好持續關注金寶的動態，發現她應該過得挺好，至少不再是「世界上最孤獨的熊」了。🐻

Vấn nạn trộm chó mặc dù đã được pháp luật quan tâm, tăng cường chế tài xử phạt đối với đối tượng trộm chó, nhưng thỉnh thoảng đâu đó chúng ta vẫn thấy những hình ảnh buồn như vậy xoay quanh vấn đề này. Hôm nay Châu có đọc một bài nghiên cứu khảo sát về tình trạng tiêu thụ chó mèo tại Việt Nam của Four Paws vào tháng 1 năm nay. Và mình đã highlight được một vài điều như sau:

📌Một tỷ lệ đáng kể người tiêu thụ thịt chó mèo chưa bao giờ nghĩ đến việc dừng loại thịt này vì họ không coi việc ăn thịt chó có gì đáng ngại. Một phần vì đó là thói quen được hình thành tử nhỏ, phần khác là vì yêu thích hương vị của món này.

📌Các lý do phổ biến nhất giải thích cho việc tiếp tục tiêu thụ thịt chó bao gồm: ăn thịt chó không phải là bất hợp pháp; thịt chó không gây bệnh; ăn thịt chó không làm ảnh hưởng đến môi trường xã hội xung quanh, và; người tiêu thụ tin rằng họ không ăn thịt chó và mèo quá thường xuyên.
Chính những niềm tin và nhận định thiếu cơ sở này dẫn đến việc ở đâu đó quanh chúng ta vẫn có những người trộm chó để phục vụ cho nhu cầu này.

📌Một số người được hỏi cho rằng ăn thịt chó không phải là một điều tội lỗi. Tuy nhiên trộm hoặc giết chó thì đúng là tội ác. Vì là người tiêu thụ sau cùng, những người được hỏi đều đồng tình là miễn họ không giết hoặc trộm chó, thì lương tâm của họ không bị ảnh hưởng gì. Và chỉ một số ít người cho rằng việc tiếp tục ăn thịt chó của họ đang thúc đẩy nhu cầu giết chó nhiều hơn.

Around Lunar New Year, in January or February, a snowy corner of Akita prefecture hosts the Hiburi Kamakura Festival, the Fire and Snow Festival. The event, which marks the end of winter and the beginning of spring, involves the welcoming of good spirits, or kami. During the first part of the Hiburi Kamakura Festival, a shrine is constructed in the spirits’ honour, and is decorated with offerings and good luck charms. As the night goes on, a bonfire is lit, and bales of hay and charcoal are tied up with lengths of straw rope. Those participating in the Hiburi dance prepare by wrapping their hair in headscarves and slipping their hands into protective gloves, to stop them from getting singed. Visiting stuffy old temples may not seem like the most exciting activity for kids to do, but there are thousands of fascinating temples and shrines in Japan. Gotokuji, for example, is one of the luckiest temples in Tokyo as it is the birthplace of maneki-neko. Gotokji is home to over 10,000 of these cat figurines, which are believed to bring good luck. A classic maneki-neko looks like a Japanese bobtail cat with a calico coat, but the friendly feline now comes in all types and colours. Typically, one or both paws are raised. They are often called ‘waving cats’ in English because of the position of the paw, but in Japan, this gesture, with the palm facing down, is used to beckon someone towards you. Hong Kong Dog Rescue HKDR rescues over 500 dogs every year, and is moving ahead with education and training. This is an overview of the charity's day to day work, shown at the annual Dogfather Fund Raising gala on 28-09-2013. The organisation, which has a strict no-kill policy, has saved over 7,000 dogs in the past ten years.

But now we are seeing more and more dogs being surrendered directly to us, and also breeders,dogs coming from breeders. (27 secs)

"We ask adopters to fill in the questionnaire, and then we try to recommend to them the dog that would be suit their situation. People are very attracted to a look, a breed name, size and all the rest of it. Sometimes it's difficult to persuade adopters that the dog that they want to take home isn't the ideal dog and then often the dog comes back. But we just try to make sure that it's the right dog for the right home. (32 secs)
