Together, we can move mountains! Thank you very much, Director General Abdirashid Ibrahim Abdirahman for reaching out to Taiwan NextGen Foundation to discuss cooperation between Taiwan and Somaliland.
During the meeting, we touched upon an array of important topics, such as people-to-people exchanges and technical assistance. With its fertile soils and untapped natural resources, Somaliland is truly a land of opportunity (not only) for Taiwan. Areas such as employment creation, technology and agribusiness, TVET, as well as fellowships, internships and other youth development collaborations will all allow Taipei and Hargeisa to grow closer together. At NextGen, we hope we receive our first fellow from Somaliland soon!
Given Taiwan’s long history of engagement with Africa as well as our institutions’ commitment to carry out mutually beneficial development projects, I trust that the recent opening of our respective countries’ representative offices in Hargeisa and Taipei is a beginning of a beautiful friendship. I am elated that the central authorities in Hargeisa recognize this and are excited to work with us!
台灣與索馬利蘭的關係，未來可以超越官式拜訪，在產業，經濟、教育上，互補發展。
昨日，我與索馬利蘭共和國社會暨就業家庭部秘書長Abdirashid Ibrahim Abdirahman
針對教育、文化、商務，特別是民間商會及智庫的合作磋商。
索馬利蘭位於非洲之角，在中共駐軍吉布地旁，是海運咽喉。 索國國家的土地肥沃，非常適合農業推展。
秘書長強調索國的天然資源，對於未來產業的重要性，並強調，這是台商可以投資發展的機會，因為相比鄰國，他們的治安更加穩健
我們認為在擴展外交、經貿之前，首先要教育兩國民眾，各自國家的重要性。先知道彼此的存在，在文化、教育上面交流之後，在經濟、貿易上加強互動。這樣的外務關係，更能建立在互惠的土壤上。
秘書長也針對未來在教育議題，特別是該國智庫、研究機關針對非洲經貿政策、商貿稅務等議題之上，加強與台灣世代智庫 Taiwan NextGen Foundation交流，並且針對實習計畫，外交合作計畫，將會知會索國駐台代表處。
我們也會擇日拜會代表。
