A 2018 study found that young adults under the age of 25 who were victimized by cyberbullying were twice as likely to commit suicide or self-harm in other ways. 😳😔 Many more statistics link depression to online bullying.
.
Our Mental health can be negatively affected by bullying and this is especially prevalent on social media. ❤️🩹
.
A few weeks ago I hosted an online talk on this topic. Little did I know I would experience it firsthand myself yesterday.
I sent a tweet out and in 280 characters my intention was to ask us all to Stop Cursing, to find a Different way to solve this whole Covid Situation together. Instead of cursing and Bashing anyone- another way perhaps. BUT I didn’t word it completely with what I wished to say- that I am worried about everyones health and well-being and feel we are not being heard.
My poorly worded rushed tweet was of course then misunderstood and became the focal target for hate words and nasty comments on Twitter. 😳 I apologized for my tweet irregardless but it continued.
Let’s all be clear for ALL our Safety: There is a VERY big difference between calling out and attacking a person with swear words, name calling and DM’s of threats.
.
I wish I would have worded my 280 characters better. My intention got lost in the characters. I have painfully learned a lesson now. To be careful and choose my words better so as to not be misunderstood again. ❤️🤲🏻
.
I have also learned something else- that people can be ruthless behind keyboards. They can be viscous, nasty and totally lack any insight into their anger whilst projecting it at you if you become a target. The more you try to reason- the more the attacking becomes crude.
.
There then is a ‘gang’ of trolls and the bullying ensues further and further…Each feeling justified and projecting their anger until you yourself may end up just like them, replying and becoming harsh too! 😩
.
That is when you leave the room- or in this case- the platform. No ones health is worth an argument, or a misunderstanding on a platform where only the Attackers Can Win because of numbers. 🧐🤨.
.
As the saying goes- The Tongue is the most dangerous weapon in the world. In our times- it is not our tongues- it is our Thumbs. 👍🏻👍🏻 💜
.
May we all treat each other with more kindness and compassion and may Allah forgive us for the pain and hurt we cause others. Aminn.

Be Determined. That has always been my core of encouragement in the obstacles I had in my life to push myself further than what I always thought I was capable of. My studies have always been the biggest hurdle in my early adulthood.
Although tempted to but I never once gave up on it as I'm fully aware this is what it takes in pursuing a brighter career path for a better way of living. Looking back, I have now completed my studies and finally be in the career path I've always imagine myself to be in. But it doesn't stop there. This just mean it's time for bigger things to be planned 😊.
I guess what I could share to one in the same shoes as I was is that we should never settle for anything less than what we have planned out in the very beginning, and to be determined to achieve the goals you've set for yourself as you are never too old to pick up a new skill to kickstart something new.
No doubt times are hard nowadays and if you're looking to pick up new skills to better help your career life , JobStreet has collaborated with FutureLearn and they are currently offering Free Courses for redemption. These courses are free so challenge yourself to sign up and learn something new and find jobs that will give you the satisfaction that you seek and deserve.
________________________________
LOẠI 3: Networking follow-up email (email giữ liên lạc)
Subject: Great to meet you at the ABC Conference
Dear Dr. Allingham,
I am My Pham, an MPhil student in Bioinformatics at the University of Cambridge. It was great to meet you at the ABC Conference in Belfast last Monday. I thoroughly enjoyed speaking with you after the keynote lecture and was fascinated to hear your insights into the future of genomics science.
As we discussed, I am interested in
My current project focuses on … (Chia sẻ thêm thông tin)
Would you have some time in the coming weeks to talk more about this topic? I understand that you are very busy, so I could adjust my schedule and work around yours. (Đưa nguyện vọng, đề nghị kết nối)
I hope to hear from you soon,
Thank you so much,
Best Regards,
My Pham
(Kết thư lịch sự)
Ví dụ 5: Giả sử mình đang liên hệ xin học PhD/ xin việc và có được vài lời gợi ý từ một giáo sư khi đang đi hội thảo. Mình muốn gửi email giữ liên lạc và cảm ơn vị giáo sư đó.
Subject: Nice meeting you at the ABC Conference
Dear Dr. Brown,
I am My Pham, an MPhil student in Bioinformatics at the University of Cambridge. It was a pleasure meeting you at the ABC Conference in Belfast last Monday.
Your passions in doing science have motivated me a lot to pursue higher education, and I thought I would share my good news with you. (Đưa ra lí do gửi email).
As you recommended, I contacted Prof. Cousin to discuss potential PhD positions at his lab. I’m pleased that we will be meeting to talk more about our research interests next week. (Chia sẻ thêm thông tin)
Besides, please let me know if you hear of any further opportunities from other professors whom I should contact. I have attached my CV for your review. I also hope to have a chance to visit your lab soon. (Đưa nguyện vọng, đề nghị kết nối)
Thank you so much for your advice and support.
Sincerely,
My Pham
(Kết thư lịch sự)
LOẠI 4: Saying “no” nicely (email từ chối)
Subject: Decision on a PhD opportunity
Dear Prof. Baker,
I have given a lot of thought to your offer for me to do my PhD in your lab.
While I am very honoured to be asked to take on this opportunity, I am afraid I must decline it now. (Đưa ra lời từ chối)
I have got accepted to a PhD program at the University of Cambridge with full studentship. The program allows me to undertake rotations in three different research groups during the first year. Honestly, I find it more suitable for me to develop skills on both at the bench and in data analysis. (Giải thích lí do cụ thể)
However, your research is still exciting to me, and I would like to keep in contact with you for further discussions. Besides, I am writing a manuscript on
I do hope you will understand my reasoning on this.
Thank you again for your support,
Best Regards,
My Pham
Subject: MPhil thesis comments needed by this Wednesday
Dear Prof. Harris,
I know that you are busy, but hopefully you have been working on my writing.
I just wanted to remind you that I really need your comments and suggestions on the Introduction and the Discussion as mentioned in my emails below. (Nhắc lại nhu cầu, mong muốn của bản thân, dùng “I” thay vì “you” để người đọc không thấy phật lòng)
Could you please get this to me by 5 pm this Wednesday? I can then have time to go through my thesis again and submit it on time, since the deadline gets closer, on Monday next week.
Please let me know if you have any questions or need a little bit more time,
Thank you so much for your support,
With best wishes,
My Pham

00:00 In today's episode, I have a question from Umang, who asked, "Hey Rayner, how do I scan the stock markets for my trading setup? Because there are so many stocks out there. Hundreds, if not thousands of stocks."
00:17 So my response to this is that there's a four-step procedure that you can follow, number one: finding a trading setup or a pattern is just like finding a wife.
00:37 if you are looking for a wife who is a brunette, Asian, Chinese, Indian, or whatsoever, you have to know what you're looking for in the first place, and it's the same for trading the markets.
00:54 Are you looking for a trending stock? a breakout stock, or maybe a stock that's tanked over the last twelve months and you're going to buy near the bottom whatsoever.
01:10 Once you've defined your trading setup then you can go into step two: Determine the market cap of the stocks you want to trade. For example, for those of you who are in the U.S., you have Russell 3000. Russell 3000 comprises of the large-cap, mid-cap, and the small-cap stocks. So, if you can define what market capitalization of stocks you want to trade, you can filter it down further. But if you're let's say, in Singapore, there's the large-cap, mid-cap, you have a few thereabout. You don't really need to do this classification, it's only for those of you who are in countries where you have thousands and thousands of stocks.
01:48 So once you have classified the market cap at step two, proceed to step three: Scan the markets. Let's say you want to scan stocks that are trending, what you want to do is to put up the twenty, fifty and two hundred period moving average, so if the stock is above the three moving averages, chances are it's a trending stock. You can also go through your entire watchlist and scan all the stocks which are above these moving averages. Alternatively, if you want to trade breakout stocks, you can just look for stocks that are on a 52-week high, breaking out of their 200-day high, etc. Another example I can give you is that if you want to buy stocks that are doing very bad over the last 12 months and you want to catch bottoms, what you can do is to scan stocks at their 52-week low, 200-day low, and etc.
02:44 Once you've scanned the markets, what you want to do is do number four: Put it all in a spreadsheet. Let's say you have 500 stocks to scan, you can do it all on the weekend. You want to put down those stocks in a spreadsheet that are close to having their setup occur so that when the market opens next week, you will only focus on those stocks in your spreadsheet that are about to have their setup occur. So, what you want to do is to find the gems among your 500 stocks and put it into a spreadsheet, and focus on it this coming week.
03:40 Now that you can scan the stock market and find the trading setups that you want, some of you might be wondering if there is any software to do this work for you? The only one that I do know of is Finviz, F-I-N-V-I-Z, and that is only for the U.S. stock market. They have this kind of quick scanner on whether you want to use fundamentals or technicals. As for local Singaporean stocks, Philippine stocks, Indian stocks, I do not know of such tools that are in the market right now. But for the U.S. there is Finviz. If there are no scanners you can just go through the four steps I shared with you. Number one, define your trading setup. Number two, know the market cap that you want to trade. Number three, scan the markets. And number four, put those stocks that you have scanned into a spreadsheet so you can track them when the market opens this coming week.
04:35 So that's all I have for you in this week's episode of Ask Rayner. Post Comp Questions and Answers
1. How did you feel post comp felt?
i had the blues.. cause after the comp, my goal kinda ended. I was rather lost, cause the routine was broken. I felt goalless but that was important to let the body rest. I got enough rest physically i'd say, but mentally maybe not quite. Life continued, with work and everything else. Nature of my job, it's rather hard to take a break. But i'm making it work.
2.Did you manage to maintain your comp physique?
No. cause3 e everywhere fb er reed I ate food i usually avoided, so i bloated after 3 days.. My weight on comp day was 53kg but i'm currently at about 57.7kg, which I don't really mind. i was only suppose to cheat for one whoolllle day right after comp. But to the dismay of my coach to about 3 days. Then I tried to get back on track. I'm not going to say it's impossible to maintain an aesthetic physique, cause it is possible, but its up to how you want to live YOUR lifestyle. In order to maintain the body i had for comp, i have to keep up with the lifestyle. But i want to say that is my norm because I'm more aware on the food choices I make for MY body. Klootype.
3.Did you finally meet my coach?
Yes I did, I wasn't as emotional as i thought i would be. I'm just being the drama queen in my head.
4. What was the first thing i ate after comp?
A burger, fries , waffles, pancakes,
5. What was my Food/Macros like post Comp?
i went back to 1550-1600cals. The breakdown is the most important part.
Comp season - I was on 50g of carbs and below. Protein intake was very high and my fat was somewhere in the middle.
Off season - i'm on 70-75g of carbs. Protein is still higher than fat, but i'm allowing myself to have a bit more fat than before. You'd be surprise that an extra 20g of carbs is a lot! For example before if i were to eat about 7 rice cakes i would hit my 50g of carbs. But now i'm allowed up to 12 rice cakes for 75g of carbs.
I know numbers may seem like a pain, but like i said it's about making smarted choices and knowing how to manipulate food for your body.
On 75g of carbs, i noticed i didn't have as much definition as i did prior to 50g of carbs.
6.How will I do things differently?
My training program, i leave it up entirely to my coach.
I'm adding EMS to my training sessions now. 1-2 a week as prescribed by my coach.
Ensure my costume is ready a month in advance.
I'm going to make sure that makeup is all done in the morning and not 2-3 hours before. How i carb load up would also be different.
7. What's your motivation?
I want to get Top 5!
I am my motivation. My family is my motivation. I do the things that I do because i believe that God has a higher purpose for me and I know that it has something to do with helping others. Fitness and Mental wellness goes hand in hand. Doing this comp gears me to improve myself. If I can put myself through this anyone else can. Nothing is impossible, it's just a matter of whether you are willing to sacrifice certain things.
Would i recommend someone to join a comp?
Yes! While competing may not be for everyone, but I do recommend it, because what you learn from the process is so worth it. I've said it before, you get a better understanding of yourself and your body. Having said that, I highly recommend for girls who are about to start taking part to find a good coach that knows about nutrition, training regimes and hormones well. Girls who I hear are eating 1000 calories or even doing cardio for 2 hours in a day, well... I reserve my comments but there is always an alternative and healthier ways to get ready aesthetically, without causing harm to your body.
Will I Compete Again?
Yes I will. I'm aiming for a show in 3months time. This will be a lot harder and a much bigger stage.
I have a different mindset going into this second comp. The first time, i went in with the mind, die die, i'm going to do it. In the past 2 and half months, I toyed with the idea of competing again. It was like as if I could choose not to do it and I could. Cause i've already gone through the challenge why do it again?? I have other priorities in life no?
I will do another comp because I want a new challenge. I want to learn more. Sure there are many ways of getting life lessons, but I found this journey to be a beneficial one. I'm going in this comp, cause I want to beat me!
I conquered the inner demons in my first comp. I have more amo and armour now - which are the knowledge and experience. So i want to try and take it a step further. How far can i challenge my physique, with all the external factors around me. I want to how to handle a stressful situations better.
