That's one of my favorite quotes. It's about the nature of long term progress in our society.

Many years ago, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr gave voice to communities in the United States and around the world as they fought for what they knew was right. In the face of hatred, he shared a message of love and rallied millions of people to act for a better world.

We've made great progress since Dr. King's time, but the fight continues. Blacks, Hispanics, Muslims, LGBT and many more communities in the United States still face oppression. Billions of people around the world are still fighting for their basic rights.

But as many challenges as we face, there are also millions of people fighting for freedom and justice inspired by leaders like Dr. King. Every day, courageous leaders build new bridges between communities and share their stories to inspire others to do the same. These are the actions that move the arc of the moral universe, and they remind us why connecting the world is so important.
