It is Mooncake festival again, also known as Pesta TangLong, Mid-Autumn Moon Festival. Masa kecil mmg festival favourite ChongWei, bersama abang kakak main tanglong, main lilin, makan kuih bulan. Time dating, bawak Mew Choo naik bukit layan bulan mengambang. Lepas kahwin, main tanglong dgn Terrance Kingston, sambil minum teh, sharing asal-usul perayaan ini.
Tahun lepas ChongWei dah citer origin of Moon Cake. Tapi mesti ramai yg wonder why time mooncake festival shopping mall mesti ada jual Tanglong cute & decoration bulan and rabbit kan? There’s a few version la asal-usul citer dongeng ni. Peminat game Mobile Legend mesti suka. Introducing Chang’Er.
Chinese Mythology, there were 10 suns. 10 matahari ni kluar satu-satu across the sky. But satu hari, these 10 suns decided to come out and play together. It scorched the Earth and killing all the crops. The Emperor pun minta tolong brader “Lord Archer” HawkEye Cina, nama Hou-Yi. He was famous for slaying other mythical beasts which causes harm to the humans. Cuba dia runding with the suns, tak jadi. Finally with no choice he shot one of the sun. Kena! The sun turned into the 3 legged raven and fell off the sky. He started to shoot the rest of the suns, all of them fell, tinggal 1.
Hou-Yi saved the day and was rewarded pill of immortality by the Gods. He asked his wife Chang’Er to keep it, as he didn’t want to gain immortality without his beloved wife. One day his apprentice broke into his house while he was out hunting, paksa Chang’Er bagi dia pill keabadian itu. No choice, she telan the pill herself to prevent the bad guy from getting immortality. Chang’Er started floating to the sky, panicked she quickly grabbed her pet rabbit, and fly up to the moon. That’s the story of the “Bunny Girl” on the moon, which was actually briefed before Apollo-11 first landing on the moon 1969.
Of course ada juga version lain. Half of the pill makes you immortal, full pill turns you into a God. Chang’Er tamak, telan the whole thing that’s why naik langit. Ada version Hou-Yi jadi jahat jahanamkan rakyat, Chang’Er takot dia dapat keabadian and took the pill herself to safe the people.
That is why during this festival, the moon is always big and round. Families will gather, light candles and colourful TangLong, so Chang’Er can see and feel less lonely from the moon. Nice story kan?

Tomorrow (Sept. 8) is the 15th day of the 8th lunar month this year, and it's also known as Moon Festival and Mid-autumn Festival in China, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and other countries influenced by the Chinese culture.
In Taiwan, Moon Festival is as important as Chinese New Year (Lunar New Year) and Tomb Sweeping Day. People in Taiwan celebrate this special holiday by gazing at the moon, getting together with their family members, eating moon cakes and pomelos , and having a barbecue. Adults also tell some folk tales or legends about this holiday to children, such as "Chang Er flying to the moon", "Wu Gang cutting down cassia trees", "Jade Rabbit pounding medicine" and "the origin of eating moon cakes."
