I figured this might be a good read on IIFYM basics from @syattfitness

💥THE TRUTH: IF IT FITS YOUR MACROS (IIFYM)💥
-
🐘Listen close because this is important. A lot fitness "gurus" here on IG like to showcase their ripped abs and shredded bodies while posting pictures of themselves eating pizza and ice cream and cake and pie and pop tarts and cookies and blah blah blah.
-
🍄They credit their bodies to this thing called, "If It Fits Your Macros." IIFYM for short. And they say, "IIFYM is what allows me to eat whatever I want, whenever I want while having the body I've always wanted."
-
🐿They explain calorie intake, above all else, matters most for fat loss and as long as you keep your calories in check, you too can look like them."
-
🐭To their credit, they're correct in that calorie intake is the single most important component of fat loss and staying lean year round.
-
🍳But, they're not being 100% honest with you. They're deceiving you in that they're only posting their "fun" meals. The foods that make up a *tiny* percentage of their weekly meals and, at the same time, make you curious and jealous and say, "I wish I could eat like that and look like them."
-
🍕Because that's their marketing strategy. It's their way of promising you can eat whatever you want and still lose fat. And who in their right mind wouldn't want that?
-
✅The truth? 90% of their meals are "clean." They're made up of "healthy" foods like fruits and veggies and proteins and nutrient dense fats and carbs.
-
🔱Because IIFYM is NOT a method that says, "eat junk all day and look great naked." IIFYM is a method that promotes balance and says, "eat 'healthy' 80-90% of the time...and 10-20% you can have "fun stuff" without feeling guilty or remorseful. Because you can absolutely include "unhealthy" foods as part of a healthy diet, especially in moderation.
-
♣️And that's the key to it all. Balance. Not feeling bad for having a donut and not punishing yourself for going "off track." It's about finding the method that works best for you -- whatever that may. 🤗
