●電影鐵達尼號主題曲，在街頭夜市沒完沒了終日傳唱不休的1998年，超合金魂第二款商品「GX-02金剛大魔神」問世。
1998年那時在台北最常逛的就是和平東路南昌路「漫畫王國」，這間原本是美系玩具專門店，不知為何突然變成超合金魂相關商品集中地。

玩具愛爆發無以復加，但1998年僅有兩款超合金魂可買。所以其餘熱情就愛屋及烏的連大鐵人17、鋼彈可動戰士、S.I.C.基凱達都買了。那幾年好像只要掛上「超合金」商標，我都沸騰燃燒的願意掏錢。

1998年我開始在警廣擔任廣播主持人，所以這一年開始的十幾年間，我的流行音樂聽得比之前更多許多，許多歌曲我一聽到時，腦中就會浮現公關片的長相，好懷念啊！
這一年成績最傑出的是Usher，1997年9月他發行了第二張專輯《My Way》，這張專輯讓他一飛沖天，專輯裡有三首歌曲進入年終單曲榜前五十，分別是第九名的《Nice & Slow》、第十五名的《You Make Me Wanna...》與第十六名的《My Way》。其中的《You Make Me Wanna...》拿到七週單曲榜亞軍（因為冠軍是金氏世界紀錄單曲銷量最高的《Candle in the Wind 1997》），之所以只排在第十五名是因為跨了兩個年度的關係，這首歌在前一年度也有第十四名。
那幾年hip-hop與R&B正在快速攻佔流行榜，台灣市場當時對hip-hop的接受度比較低，電台主持人們也還在漸漸習慣這種樂風，Usher的三首上榜曲中我也只對《You Make Me Wanna...》比較熟悉而已。
與Usher同樣在第二張專輯才大紅大紫的歌手/組合，這年還有兩組，分別是孕育出Beyoncé的Destiny's Child，以及Justin Timberlake的NSYNC，他們的第一張專輯都各排上了一首歌。
這一年有兩首跨世代傳唱的電影主題曲，一首是《鐵達尼號》主題曲《My Heart Will Go On》，賣了1800萬張才排到第十三名，不知道是不是因為版本的問題。這首歌有電影原聲帶與Celine Dion個人專輯兩種版本。
另一首是《世界末日》的主題曲《I Don't Want to Miss a Thing》，Aerosmith主唱Steven Tyler為女兒Liv Tyler主演電影獻唱的歌，魔幻的大嘴與唱腔讓人過耳不忘。
我愛的Madonna這年發了大作《Ray of Light》，雖然只有《Frozen》一首打進年終前五十名，但我記得當年我正好開始踏足同志酒吧，每個禮拜都被她的《Ray of Light》與《Frozen》兩首歌轟炸。
這張專輯拿到包括「最佳流行演唱專輯」在內的四項葛萊美獎，打破尼爾森銷量統計系統有紀錄以來的女性歌手最高首週銷量紀錄，總共在全球賣出1600萬張。
而且，寫到這裡才發現，我一直以為她這幾年已經不那麼紅了，查了資料才發現完全沒有這回事，去年發行的專輯《Madame X》才剛成為她第九張Billboard冠軍專輯，等一下要趕快去補課了。
這年還有許多在台灣很紅的單曲，像是Brandy and Monica 的《The Boy Is Mine》、Savage Garden的《Truly Madly Deeply》、LeAnn Rimes的《How Do I Live》（我沒有在電影原聲帶那邊提是因為空中監獄原聲帶裡用的是Trisha Yearwood的版本）、還有Janet Jackson跟Mariah Carey唉唷講不完啦…
也有一些是沒那麼大牌，但我在播歌時的心頭好，例如Sarah McLachlan 的《Adia》、Jennifer Paige的《Crush》、Faith Hill的《This Kiss》、我很喜歡但很快就不紅的Five，《When the Lights Go Out》、以及Chumbawamba嗨爆，每次播我都會在播音室跟著跳舞的《Tubthumping》。

好的歌曲可以觸動人心、並且能夠源遠流傳。每個人對於音樂的品味或許會隨著時間改變，但當下聽著那首歌的心情卻是會一直存在的，正因如此，我們時常在聽一些「懷舊歌曲」時，總會讓人有種懷念的感受，甚至是能喚起當時聽歌的心境。
The Safehouse Project頻道這次改編了許多歌曲：鐵達尼號的主題曲《My Heart Will Go On》、Timbaland的《Apologize》、Rihanna的《Diamonds》...等，將1998年開始近20年的經典外文歌串成組曲，充滿回憶的好歌讓許多網友表示「聽完眼淚都流乾了」「這不都是我的青春嘛」。
