Look around and you can still find colonial-era Post boxes in Hong Kong.
Here you see the only postbox in Hong Kong in oval shape. This Queen Elizabeth II postbox is the largest in the city and does not bear royal cyphe but a Scottish crown. This reason is, this post box is from Scotland.
During 1950s, the dispute over the correct title of the new British monarch, Elizabeth II has led to acts of vandalism against post boxes bearing Queen Elizabeth II’s cypher in Scotland. A compromise was reached and the Scottish Crown is used instead on Scotland’s post Boxes.

Unlike the new postboxes, which are made of fibreglass, the colonial-era post boxes are made of cast-iron and were painted in red. As the city returned to China in 1997, these red post boxes were repainted green. 59 of them are still in service.

Yes! But they are not in service. Two at the HK Museum of History 香港歷史博物館, two at the Postal Gallery of Hongkong Post 郵政總局郵展廊展覽 and one is displayed on the external wall of Stanley Post Office 赤柱郵政局.
