End of August, due date for both thesis & new project submission and stumble across this question on 31 August is ....

Anyway here's the question: "How do you deal with structural disadvantages in your country?"

Racism and Malay supremacy is a never ending drama in Malaysia. Growing up as a Chinese, I have always wanted to move to US and leave Malaysia for good. But later in life, through my involvement in art and culture, it connects me to my root, forging great friendships of mutual love and respect with other races and my perceptive changed.

"In my university, Malay students are generally easy-going and master of improvisation, they take care of production design and technical works, Chinese are good with figures and thus securing funds and accounting work land on their shoulders, Indian are well-spoken, hence they are good in coordination work and handle production management. Together we will be a strong team."

A major throw back this MCO.

Let‘s zoom in to check out the details.. You will find my favourite pleated tulle by @pleats.by.looi , lace patchwork, beading details, embroidery and hand painted work on the costumes.

The pleated translucent tulle skirts on the @sutrafoundation dancers as Princesses were cut in a circular shape to give magical fantasy effect to their movements. It was hand dyed and painted on the hem of the skirt in gold. Extra details like black beaded laces were added to enhance the look.

Can you find the wicked magician in this photo? Easy.. he is right next to the Prince. Magician was wearing a Golden mask, black leotard with hand dyed pleated wrap and a fairy garden over his shoulder with a golden magic snake.

On Prince, he was having a 3- piece suit of an Emperor inspired outfit. White cotton Chinese wrap shirt, green Shantung silk top with imperial border hand embroidery and a pair of beaded harem trousers.

As on the main Princess, her see-thru costume was made in full lace, hand dyed in natural tones and beaded neckline effect.

All headgears and accessories were also made by @melindalooicouture team.

It was a great experience working with them. I learnt so much about theatre costumes technically. Have to say costumes for movie production and theatre are very different.

Apujan SS21 Virtual Catwalk on FAB UK Magazine

"In keeping with the accelerated digitalisation of this pandemic era, the APUJAN Spring/Summer 2021 London fashion show will be presented in digital form for the first time ever, with the theme “Gaze into The Flowers in The Mirror” which will be launched during London fashion week. The production team have specially invited many Golden Horse award winners including Director Jung Chi Chang, together with long-term collaborator, music director DJ QuestionMark (Chi-Shuan Ying) to create first virtual show, where Apu Jan invites the audience to explore the catwalk through a different lens. Actress Annie Chen and Go player Joanne Missingham have been invited to perform in this virtual catwalk show, with the Cloud Gate Theatre as the background."_____ #FABUK

Don't really know how to best describe my April. Well for sure, it went past in a blink of an eye.
It was pretty much a crazy hectic month where we found ourselves buried in so much work. My entire team and I hustled through shoot after shoots and the mad post-production volume, rushing to churn out as much content as possible, before we left for our company trip to Bali.
April was also a month of celebrations, from mother’s day meals to birthday celebrations of family and friends, and an advanced birthday celebration for Toh and I with the rest of my beloved GFD girls. Despite putting in late nights and making full use of our days, we still didn’t manage to finish our work before we flew and had to postpone our flights. It was a little bit of a bummer but we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Bali and I can’t wait to share what went down, so stay tuned for the upcoming vlogs ahead!
