#'95年に日本ファルコムが発売した、ARPGであり、シリーズ5作目。初のオリジナルイースシリーズのSFCタイトルとしてファルコムの総力を結集した渾身の一作として製作された。
主な特徴としては、剣を振って攻撃、盾で敵の攻撃をガード、ダメージを受ける・与える際に数字で表示、魔法しか効かないというボスがいないなどが挙げられる。
意欲的なシステム導入が多く盛り込まれたが、ジャンプ操作も完璧と言い難いうえ、幾つかバグも存在するタイトルになり、余り目立たぬ存在となってしまった。
とはいえ、従来のPCのイースシリーズで培われた概念を排して、ゲームデザインを大きく変える転換点となった作品。
BGMは石川さん率いるjdkが作曲、これまでのイースのイメージを覆すオーケストリックな曲調のため、イースらしからぬイースとの評価を受ける事もある。それでも一曲一曲のクオリティは高いうえ、何より曲の使いまわしをほぼ行わない曲数の多さは流石ファルコムの一言。
