Star Wars: Squadrons จะมีโหมดการเล่นสองส่วนคือ Singleplayer ที่ผู้เล่นจะได้เลือกว่าจะอยู่ฝ่ายไหนระหว่างจักรวรรดิและฝ่ายกบฎ ซึ่งทั้งสองฝ่ายจะมีเนื้อเรื่องที่น่าติดตามทั้งคู่

สำหรับยานที่มีให้เลือกนั้นจะมีอยู่หลายประเภท เช่น Fighter(Tie Fighter, X-Wing) จะมีความยืดหยุ่นสูง เหมาะกับทุกสถานการณ์ Interceptor(Tie Interceptor, A-Wing) ยานความเร็วสูงที่เหมาะกับการไล่จี้เป้าหมายแบบติด ๆ Support(Tie Reaper, U-Wing) กับความสามารถในการสนับสนุนเพื่อนร่วมทีมทั้งเติมกระสุนและซ่อมแซมยาน รวมไปถึงขัดขวางไม่ให้ยาน Fighter เล่นได้สะดวก และ Bomber(Tie Bomber, Y-Wing) ยานโจมตีที่มีพลังทำลายล้างสูงสุด

แน่นอนว่าผู้เล่นสามารถปรับแต่งตัว Pilot และยานประจำตัวของตัวเองได้อย่างอิสระ เพียงแค่เล่นเกมไปเรื่อย ๆ ของใหม่ก็จะปลดล็อกออกมาให้เลือกใช้งานได้ เช่นสี หน้าตา หรือชุดเสื้อผ้า รวมไปถึง Component Loadout ที่ปรับเปลี่ยนได้อิสระตามสไตล์การเล่นของแต่ละคน

《星球大戰》故事來到第九集，未必人人記得前面八集的劇情，參考這個星戰懶人包，必定可以迅速補習必要資訊，為入場觀看《星球大戰：天行者崛起》作最後準備，與全球影迷一同見證這有今生無來世、故事誇越42年的《星球大戰》「終局之戰」！

1. 上集提要
第八集《星球大戰：最後絕地武士》劇情發展至邪惡的第一軍團勢要將反抗勢力消滅，由莉亞公主帶領的反抗軍只餘下最後一支艦隊竭力逃避第一軍團追捕。擁有強大原力的少女Rey，去找天行者Luke，希望由他出馬勸服已投向黑暗面的Kylo Ren回歸正道，卻失敗而回。最終Rey被Kylo Ren活捉，當送到第一軍團的最高領袖Snoke面前時，Kylo Ren忽然發難殺死最高領袖。天行者Luke以原力現身，用盡最後力量阻止Kylo Ren進擊，協助反抗軍逃脫，最終僅餘數人能成功登上千歲鷹離開。

2. 天行者家族主宰星戰
天行者（Skywalker）是《星球大戰》九部曲系列中不可或缺的重要家族，由前傳三部曲故事的Anakin Skywalker，因為步向黑暗而成為黑武士（Darth Vader)開始；到《星球大戰》正傳三部曲，則是Anakin兒子Luke Skywalker上場，他與失散妹妹莉亞公主（Leia）一起對抗銀河帝國，並與黑武士上演父子決戰；而《星球大戰》後傳三部曲，則講述莉亞公主與韓索羅（Han Solo）誕下的兒子Ben Solo走上歧途成為Kylo Ren，同時間神秘少女Rey向Luke學習使用原力，並與Kylo Ren有特別的聯系。

Rey - 黛絲烈尼（Daisy Ridley）飾演
擁有強大原力的拾荒少女，一直希望尋找父母身份，投身反抗軍，跟天行者學習使用原力，與Kylo Ren有特別的心靈聯系。

Kylo Ren - 阿當載夫（Adam Driver）飾演
莉亞公主與韓索羅（Han Solo）所生的兒子，原名Ben Solo，曾跟天行者學習成為絕地武士，卻被發現有邪惡內心。Kylo Ren其後投靠第一軍團，先殺了父親韓索羅，其後又殺死邪惡最高領袖Snoke並取而代之。

Finn - 約翰保也加（John Boyega）飾演
原為第一軍團的白兵FN-2187，發現自己不想殺人而成為逃兵，最終加入反抗軍，面對第一軍團攻擊，終於敢於挺身對抗。

Poe Dameron - 奧斯卡依撒（Oscar Isaac）飾演
Poe是反抗軍最優秀的機師，與BB-8是合作拍檔。原本魯莽衝動，但經過《星球大戰：最後絕地武士》一役中，幾乎全軍覆沒之後，開始成熟應戰，成為反抗軍重要領袖。

Rose - 凱莉（Kelly Marie Tran）飾演
反抗軍的機械技師Rose，跟Finn一起去破壞第一軍團的追蹤器而并肩作戰，其後更愛上了Finn差點犧牲自己性命。

Jannah - 納奧美艾姬（Naomi Ackie） 飾演
新加入角色Jannah，她擅長策騎兵馬，與反抗軍反抗軍並肩作戰。

4. 經典角色齊集
莉亞公主（Leia Organa）- 嘉莉菲莎（Carrie Fisher）飾演
既是天行者家族後人，莉亞公主同樣懂得使用原力，是反抗軍其中一位最偉大的領袖，決心殲滅帝國。她是Padme興Anakin Skywalker的女兒，Luke的妹妹。她與韓索羅相戀，更誕下兒子班索羅，可是身為反抗軍的將軍的她，兒子卻是敵方軍團的最高領袖，家族命運中的父子對決再度上演。

路克天行者（Luke Skywalker）- 麥克咸美 (Mark Hamill) 飾演
Luke Skywalker由在Tatoonie星的一個小男孩，逐漸成為銀河系最偉大的一位絕地武士，原本有意開班授徒擴大正義一方力量，但在訓練外甥班索羅時，卻發現他有邪惡的內心而起了殺機，最終令班索羅轉向黑暗力量。他為了贖罪避走到絕地武士的聖地，最終為救反抗軍用盡最後力量而死，從此回歸原力。

蘭度（Lando Calrissian）- 比利威廉斯（Billy Dee Williams）飾演
韓索羅的生死之交，一直對賭輸了千歲鷹給韓索羅而耿耿於懷。他曾協助反抗軍擊潰帝國軍團，及第二顆死星，令他變成反抗軍的英雄。飾演蘭度的比利威廉斯（Billy Dee Williams飾）將會在《星球大戰：天行者崛起》回歸，更會重掌其心愛飛船千歲鷹！

西斯大帝白卜庭（Palpatine）- 伊恩麥克迪亞米（Ian McDiarmid）飾演
擁有雙重身份，既是一手捉成帝國誕生的終極邪惡領袖西斯大帝，也是共和國的議長白卜庭。他在《星戰》前傳時引誘安納金（Anakin Skywalker）成為黑武士，在《星球大戰：武士復仇》遭黑武士擊殺跌出外太空爆炸被當作已死。在《星球大戰：天行者崛起》終極預告中，更有其旁白出現，他是否在今集回歸，成了所有觀眾最關心的地方。

侏兒（Chewbacca）- Joonas Suotamo飾演
侏兒是韓索羅的好朋友，也是與他一起駕駛千歲鷹歷險的好拍檔。原本飾演侏兒的英國演員彼得梅休（Peter Mayhew），今年初逝世，侏兒的角色自上集《星球大戰：最後絕地武士》開始，已經由Joonas Suotamo扮演。

R2-D2 - Jimmy Vee飾演
由《星戰》前傳首部曲開始，連續九部《星戰》電影，都見到其出現。R2-D2本身是帕德美公主（Padmé Amidala）太空船上的機械人，並與C-3PO成為好友，其後更化身天行者家族的重要伙伴，一起出生入死經歷多次危機。於《星球大戰：原力覺醒》中被收藏在反抗軍的倉庫中，內藏天行者匿藏星球的地圖，之後與Rey結伴去找天行者的下落。R2-D2原本由著名演員Kenny Baker飾演，他於《原力覺醒》開始退居顧問角色，並交棒Jimmy Vee演出，Kenny於2016年8月離世。

C-3PO - 安東尼丹尼斯（Anthony Daniels）飾演
由安納金（Anakin Skywalker）一手一腳打造的機械人C-3PO，懂得超過700萬種溝通方法，也是《星戰》系列中唯一一個九集都由同一人演出的機械人。於今集預告中，C-3PO說出「Taking one last look sir... at my Friends」這句對白，又有眼變紅色的鏡頭，令人擔心他在今集的下場。

反抗軍戰機
千歲鷹（Millennium Falcon）
韓索羅從蘭度手上贏過來的改裝運輸機，擁有全宇宙第一快的超空間引擎，是反抗軍最重要的戰鬥力量，為反抗軍多場重要戰役的致勝工具。自從韓索羅於《星球大戰：原力覺醒》遭Kylo Ren所殺之後，千歲鷹就由Rey與侏兒所駕駛。

X翼戰機（X-Wing）
反抗軍最著名的主力戰機。天行者Luke Skywalker曾駕駛X-Wing在摧毀死星戰役中立下大功。X-Wing以小隊方式作戰，而小隊也多以顏色命名。於《星戰》後傳三部曲中，反抗軍最強機師Poe Dameron就是駕駛X-Wing作戰。

第一軍團戰機
滅星者（Star Destroyer）
第一軍團艦隊的主力核心，一種龐大的星際驅逐艦。擁有各種級別殺傷力武器，同時更可運載許多不同類型的戰機及第一軍團軍隊。

鈦戰機（Tie-fighter）
第一軍團的快速單人星際戰機，球型的駕駛艙夾在兩片寬大的六邊形太陽能陣列機翼之間。Kylo Ren也曾於《星球大戰：最後絕對武士》駕駛其專屬的鈦戰機出戰。

原力（Force）
絕地武士（Jedi） VS 西斯武士（Sith）
原力是存在於天地萬物之中的生命力，能對原力有高度感應的人，就可以操控原力，其能力包括心靈感應、隔空移物、讀心、預知能力、治療及操控別人等。使用原力有兩個重要派系，一是主張以和平、救護為中心的絕地武士，被視為正義力量。另一派則是以仇恨、憤怒、憎恨及惡意等驅動原力的西斯武士。兩派都愛用光劍作武器，絕地武士愛用藍色及綠色的光劍，西斯武士則用紅色為主。

《星戰》中正義的反抗軍，都愛以「願原力與你同在（May the force be with you)」作為相互之間的祝福，大多時也作為告別時的一句話，其後更成為《星戰》迷相互之間的祝福語。
