今天想介紹另一位我個人也非常喜歡的Fingestyle吉他演奏家Doug Smith

**Doug Smith 個人簡介**
Doug Smith是一位聞名全美國的原聲吉他(Acoustic Guitar)演奏家，他的吉他指彈
(Fingerpicking)演奏獨具風格，音符如流水般傾瀉而出，融合了鄉村、古典、 爵士 、
當代音樂各種風格的特點，當聆聽他的演奏音樂時，我們依稀可以聽見Chet Atkins,
Leo Kottke, Michael Hedges, Alex de Grassi等大師的影子。
Doug演奏風格的形成其實受到了很多方面的影響，他的吉他生涯開始於60年代中期，那時
他大約10歲，Doug的父母希望他像家裡的其他孩子一樣學習鋼琴，但是他卻對Beatles產
生了興趣，並且開始了吉他的學習，並在他家附近的一家音樂教室開始學習吉他的課程，
持續了一年左右。
一開始，Doug只是在一把鋼弦吉他上胡亂地彈奏一些曲子，直到有一天他在電視上看見
Chet Atkins和Boston Pops管弦樂隊的合奏之後，他轉而追隨指彈吉他音樂，同時他也自
學Fredrick Noad的書"Solo Guitar Playing"，開始了尼龍弦吉他上的學習。一些創作型
歌手比如James Taylor, Harry Chapin, Don McClean, Gordon Lightfoot也對Doug的音
樂有所影響到。之後Doug又加入了一個搖滾樂隊，專注於Genesis, Jethro Tull, Yes,等
等一些當時看來很前衛的搖滾樂隊的音樂，在樂隊中他主彈Bass，並偶爾兼職電吉他的演
奏，同時Doug私底下還是會為木吉他寫了一些solo音樂片段。
高中畢業後，Doug進入了位於Fullerton的加州大學就學，主修古典吉他。這一段在音樂
和作曲上的正統教育對於他日後的吉他演奏的技巧，風格和創作能力上的提升都極有幫助
。70年代後期，Doug受到John Renbourn的專輯 "The Hermit"的影響，再一次改變了自己
的彈奏風格，這次他做了兩個改變，第一個改變是他回到了以鋼弦吉他為主的演奏音樂，
直到現在他仍然專職彈奏鋼弦吉他，第二個改變是他開始對特殊調弦產生了興趣，現在
Doug 的原創音樂都是以特殊調弦為主，像是Alex De Grassi和Michael Hedges等知名吉
他演奏家對於Doug在特殊調弦的運用上有著實的影響。
1989年左右，知名唱片公司American Gramiphone Records聽到了Doug的一個試聽母帶，
當下決定與他簽約並為他錄音，在與American Gramiphone唱片公司的合作中Doug完成了
" Order of Magnitude "和" Labyrinth "兩部專輯的錄製，除了個人專輯的錄製，Doug
在與AGR合作期間也參與錄製了AGR的人氣作品DayParts系列的四期節目："Sunday
Morning Coffee", "Dinner", "Romance"，和"Sunday Morning Coffee II." ，此外他還
參與了一些電台節目，有KINK-FM的Light's Out III & IV，National Public Radio
(NPR)的"Echoes" and "River City Folk"等。
Doug在Honest Records唱片公司，錄製發行了一張個人專輯"Deep Heart"，和一張精選集
"Best of Doug Smith"，1998年Doug加入Solid Air Records(AMR唱片公司)，錄製發行首
張原聲吉他音樂獨奏專輯"Alone at Last"，這張專輯是Doug與Laurence Juber所一起合
作製作的，在2001年，Doug錄製發行兩張吉他重奏專輯，一張是與知名的原聲吉他演奏家
Mark Hanson所合作錄製的"The Power of Two"專輯，另一張是與知名的原聲吉他演奏家
兼古典音樂作曲家於一身的Paul Chasman合作錄製的"For You"專輯，Doug在American
Gramiphone Records所發行的兩張專輯"Order of Magnitude"和"Labyrinth"也在2000年
在AMR唱片公司重新發行， 2002年12月，Doug第一次自己擔當製片人的專輯"Alone
Again"問世！在同時並發行另一張精選集"Doug Smith The Cllection" ， 2005年2月，
Doug和一些來自AMR知名的吉他演奏家，以"Henry Mancini - Pink Guitar"這張吉他演奏
專輯，獲得葛萊美獎年度最佳原聲流行音樂專輯(Best Acoustic Pop Album)的殊榮，
2006年9月，Doug贏得在Winfield舉行的國際指彈吉他大賽(International Fingerstyle
Guitar Competition)得到冠軍，該項比賽聚集了來自世界各地頂尖的指彈吉他高手，絕
對是一個困難重重，競爭激烈的比賽， Doug能在此大賽脫穎而出絕對有其過人之處。
你可以在許多的電視頻道或廣播聽見Doug所創作的吉他音樂，像是The Discovery
Channel, Martha Stewart Living, CNN, TNN, ESPN, Encore....等等名聲響亮的電視頻
道，在一些 電影配樂裡頭也曾經出現，像是"龍卷風[Twister]"、"鳳舞紅塵[Moll
Flanders]"以及最近剛上映 的電影"把愛找回來[August Rush]"。
Doug是一個出色的旅行演奏家，常常參與各式各樣的演出，他不僅能獨奏，而且能完美地
與多位音樂家合作完成表演， Doug目前定居波蘭，但他的落腳地卻隨著他教琴、寫曲、
表演的地點隨時改變，所以那些精彩絕倫的音樂仍然源源不斷地從這位非凡的藝術家手中
流淌出來，美國Billboard Magazine以"迷人的旋律及令人暈眩的撥弦"來形容Doug的音樂
，而Fingerstyle Guitar Magazine 則更形容"他的指板不斷地發出令人瞠目結舌的光芒"
。
