🎥President Tsai signals support for Hong Kong with visit to dissident bookseller
President Tsai Ing-wen signaled her support for Hong Kong on last Friday, a day after China moved to rein in the city with a sweeping national security law. President Tsai's itinerary included a stop at Causeway Bay Books in downtown Taipei, where she met with its owner Lam Wing Kee, an exiled Hong Kong dissident. In a social media post, Tsai said Taiwan would not sit idly by and watch freedom and human rights regress in Hong Kong.

#LamWingKee of Hong Kong’s #CausewayBayBookStore, lately attacked with red paint now under #Taiwan police care, reopens shop in Taipei today. We send flowers.
Lam wrote me: “Not hurt. No worries. Shop opens as sched. Chinese communist party can’t do anything.”
