Good morning!
Here's a little sample of our RMO schedule! We're technically on day 17 of voluntary self-quarantine and have a little routine going-on which has been so pivotal to everyone's sanity!
Having a structure helps to manage expectations allowing for lots of freedom within boundaries, a key principle of Respectful Parenting. It helps everyone take ownership with a semblance of control over all the things we can't control!
One of the big things (that I highly recommend!) we did as a family when we knew we would have to potentially self-quarantine for 4-6 weeks with our family medical history as well as with my work travel was sit down as a family and talk about what was important to us.
We live in a 1500sqft apartment and haven't left these four walls. 😅😅❤️ We have a balcony but other than that, we've not gone to other public common areas which made it very important that we make our home, a safe, loving, fun, haven instead of prison walls.
The best way for success was for all of us to talk about what was important to us. What we needed on the schedule to find our happy.
For mama and daddy, it was making sure that we had set time for us to work and for Ella Grace, she wanted to have morning meetings and a few other special mentions like morning snuggles, cooking together, play time.
This is by no-means a be-all ends-all, it will look different for every family depending on what you and your littles find important. The key is just that with a structure and framework, it allows everyone to breathe and create, have fun and be present without worrying about what's happening next which is especially important for little ones.
This schedule while very thought out, is flexible. We don't micromanage at all and there are no set times where something has to be done at a specific time (outside of her medicine schedule!). Listen to your gut, mamas. It's your superpower!
Ps. Can you tell which part of the day this picture was taken?
I wrote it up on our "command center" which are these giant sliding glass doors that we have in our kitchen. We use chalk pens and write our favorite quotes, grocery list, schedule, family goals, etc and it's easily wipeable!
On the left are "special" things that we get to do by the day along with suggestions on play ideas if she's stumped and on the right, our running schedule that I want to reiterate again, looks very long and complicated but is just more of a loose framework and structure!
***
The pyramid you see is something is an intuitive tool-based one-on-one family private session I teach using science-based emotive drivers to help you find what's important to your family, what you want to achieve, and the tools to get there.
It's great for families wanting to get a clearer and on the same page on how to reach their mama and daddy goals and something that has radically changed the way I love, lead, and mama! If you’re interested in signing up for it after Covid is over, come have a chat w me!

RMO SCHEDULE
❤️ Morning snuggles
A loving quiet start for everyone, good morning hug or snuggles or just quiet time together as they wake up
❤️ Make breakfast with daddy
Ella Grace's favorite time w daddy - they make coffee and breakfast together. While not limited to this, because breakfast is usually her choice, I also list down some options to help her.
❤️ Medicine
Ella Grace has daily medicine that she has to take so putting it on the schedule helps her get a sense of what happens when since much of our routine has changed. It also helps everyone not forget!
❤️ PLAY!
Such an important part of her day, we allow for lots of time for free play and exploration. She plays independently and happily while daddy and mama work.
Her favorite options include dress-up, role-play, restaurant, construction, magnatiles, podcasts, games, art table, dancing, scooter, forts, obstacle course, sensory etc.
She has free run on our little apartment and her imagination is her limit. Freedom within boundaries!
❤️ Movement
We try to move together as a family everyday for at least 20-30mins of vigorous activity. Movement helps your brain get to a theta state which helps with focus and understanding new information which is great for both adults that need to work and littles that need to play and learn!
Movement when you're shut it also helps regulate your hormones and keeping your body active will not just help you feel good physically but also mentally.
Some of our favorite ways to move together are family yoga, dance party, zumba, workout video, HIIT circuit, etc
❤️ Morning snack
Studies have also shown that a good snack or meal after activity helps little ones to sustain this theta state longer.
Also, mama is hungry and doesn't want to be hangry!
❤️ Morning meeting
This was beautifully one of the biggest requests Ella Grace wanted when we asked what was important to her. It's a little circle time that she usually has at school and it gives everyone safe space to come together, talk about what's on their mind or what's happened, as well as sets up expectations for the day by going through what day it is, what our plans are, etc.
❤️ Play/work
Another space to independently work and play and using some key Respectful Parenting principles after connecting (morning meeting, family movement, snack etc) to disconnect.
Fueling up their love tanks allows this space to largely remain uninterrupted, productive, and happy!
❤️ Lunch
We usually have a simple lunch - sandwiches, wraps, leftovers, soup and rice, one-pot meals, etc
❤️ Nap
Ella Grace cleans up and changes into her pjs for a little nap after lunch. She has a little eye mask and sleeping bag that she drags out to the living room sometimes to be close to us while we work or she might take a nap in her room or our room.
Our boundary is just that her body has to rest so we are quite flexible and work with her so she feels like she has some amount of ownership in it which helps with cooperation!
❤️ Afternoon snack
We take a little break together and have an afternoon snack/tea/coffee and just check in with one another (there's that connect to disconnect again!)
❤️ Play/work
Ella Grace usually spends this time playing but mostly lots of movement-based play like dancing, scooting, rocking/jumping on her balance board, etc
❤️ Cooking/TV time
I start preparing dinner and Ella Grace usually will help me cut, wash, etc and when she's done helping, she gets a little tv time while I finish up. Her favorite shows currently are The Wiggles, Hi-5, Fireman Sam, Paw Patrol
❤️ Dinner
Mealtimes are special for our family. It's our chance to connect and eat together so we try to really be present. Put our phones away, sit down at the table or if we're having dinner outside, on the mat or bench together, set up and clean up together so it's a family activity.
❤️ 20-min shakedown
This is a fun clean-up game that we play at the end of the day. We set up a timer for 20mins and quickly try to clean up as much as we can.
The only rule is that at the end of 20mins we stop and walk away. It makes the clean-up less overwhelming and also elicits participation from everyone because there is a certain end time that doesn't get extended no matter what, making it much easier to get everyone to participate the next time too.
You'd be amazing how much we can get done in 20mins! In our little apartment, having free reign to play throughout the day allows us to not have to micromanage but also not go nuts from the mess. We pick up here and there throughout the day but the 20min gives us a nice reset for the next day while making it not feel like a big task.
❤️ Movement
We usually have some sort of movement - epic dance party is one of our very favorites. If it's been a very busy tiring day, we might play a song and stretch, meditate or do wind down yoga instead. There are no hard and fast rules, just again time to move and listen to our bodies.
❤️ Bath/Shower
Ella Grace takes her own shower and this is also usually when she brushes her teeth, takes her medicine, etc.
❤️ Night Meeting
Similar to morning meeting, it's a little circle to come together and debrief from our day together. We usually play Happy/Sad/Grateful which is the highlight for everyone. We do a little breathing and love shower after, read a few books then end with prayer before Ella Grace goes to bed and mama and daddy get some mama and daddy time!
Hope this helps!

Our children have had their CNY holidays. Due to the coronavirus, all schools in HK are closed till Mar (maybe) to prevent community spread. School has sent out virtual learning on Monday and parents, we have to take up the role of facilitator, not teacher, no matter if we are working or non working parents, this role has been thrown upon us. Thanks God, I have my family’s support to help me through this uncertain time.
Well, the reality is that temporary homeschooling is a whole other animal entirely. Let me share the light of it first, it can take the very best elements of childhood, the love of learning for learning’s sake, combined with the comfort of a loving home and create a transformative experience for parent and child.
I would like to encourage you if you’ve become frustrated because I feel you. I can’t go about my day without getting this ‘task’ done. Here are my top 9 tips I’ve gather for home learning. Food for thoughts.
1. Just forget trying to duplicate a classroom environment, school schedule, and curriculum in your home. There’s nothing sacred about sitting at desks, having set amounts of time per subject, or using only textbooks.
2. Teaching empathy, self-control, patience, generosity, and other desirable traits. Our kids will learn how to treat others and how to respect themselves by watching and modeling our words and behavior. We are always our children role models. This is powerful.
3. Our role will be as a facilitator to our child’s learning. There’s no need to lecture, and very often we’ll find ourselves learning something new right alongside our child.
4. Use technology but don’t become dependent on it. Paper, pencils and colour pencils will do fine.
5. If something, anything, isn’t working, give it one more try and then move on. There’s no use being a stubborn idiot about it.
6. Get your feet wet gently. Begin with just one subject for the first day. Take a 15 minutes break or snack time and continue to complete one subject. The next day, go on to the second subject for an hour then take a break and continue. Do the same for the first 3 days or more, depending how your child feels. Add another subject or two on the fourth day by taking breaks after 60 minutes. Breaks may include art, music or even cooking and baking fun.
7. This may go against our nature, but there’s no need to do every subject every day! Keep in mind that schools offer music and art once a week. Science is taught only two or three days a week, and the same goes for history, geography, social studies and more. You’ll kill yourself trying to fit in six subjects every day.
8. You’ll be surprised by how few materials you need to teach. I taught my son to read using the book, Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons. The lessons were ghastly boring, but my elder son is an astonishing reader now! I can’t over-emphasize the importance of reading and math. They’re the keys to everything else your kids will learn. Do everything in your power to develop strong readers and little mathematicians. I would read aloud Chinese stories to my boys through their entire life and they would read after me if they feel like it. Daddy is in charge of English. This is a fabulous and often an overlooked method to help them to develop strong vocabularies and the love of reading.
9. This is YOUR school. If you want to spend an entire day playing math games and going for a nature walk, do it! The flexibility and spontaneity are part of the adventure.
I’m not promising that your homeschooling month/s will be filled only with sunshine and unicorns. You’ll have days where you sit and cry from fatigue and frustration which I have already experienced. It’s not EASY but it’s beyond rewarding and will create a lifestyle you will love for its flexibility, fun, and everyday discoveries. Remember, you are not alone, we are in this together 🤗

When I first met Yayasan TM Director, En. Abdul Hamid back in 14th July 2019 on French National Day celebration at French Ambassador Residence.
We spoke and came across that they are going to organise a 5km Charity Run to celebrate Yayasan TM 25th Anniversary. The run will be starting from TM Tower to UM and back to TM Tower. At that point of time, they haven’t started to progress about the planning of the run. I shared with them about the idea on organising a Tower Run and it’s much easier to organise and work towards it since the race course is only require the stairs in the TM Tower. I asked for their name card and I will come to their office and do a presentation about the run.
On 1st August, I did the first presentation and present the idea to them at their office, facing each and everyone of the Yayasan TM Team including the director. After convincing them, doing my best to get all of them to visualise on how the execution part, the race day like and how the safety of the race are being ensure and as the top priority. Even coming out with calculation on how individual flag off works from 1000 to 2000 participants.
As TM is a big corporate company with too many departments handling different roles of it. I got the contact of TM Management Unit (TMU) from them to get the approval of using the stairs. Another meeting have been scheduled to convince the TMU on a later date. I spoke to JomRun and happy to have them support the tower run idea and eventually they became the Event Organiser for this tower run.
While I was traveling to Da Nang for participating in Da Nang International Marathon 10KM, I was carrying my iPad with me and at the night time, I was preparing all the presentation, a more detailed plan for the tower run. More and more meeting being scheduled to TM Communication and Branding Department about the tower run, then come back to Yayasan TM department on setting up each and everyone about their role on this event.
I am also manage to get some of my junior from Sport Management in UM to come and assist Yayasan TM on this and they are able to learn to work with corporate staff and gain real life experience on the journey to host an international event.
Soon or later, Malaysia Towerrunning Association got approved by Pesuruhjaya Sukan on the 23rd of Aug 2019 and it was just a day before Ostankino Tower Run, a 200-point factor race in Moscow, Russia. I became the President of the Association and the real challenge begin. I was in Moscow that time and I spoke to the TWA President right away about this good news and looking forward on more international race are being held in Malaysia in the future. I want to build a towerrunning community in Malaysia and produce a strong team to bring up Malaysia Ranking in the National Ranking under TWA.
Tonnes of whatsapp call with person in charge from Yayasan TM and JomRun and my team while I was in Moscow and Italy for races. Definitely the most challenging oversea trip I ever had. Racing, sightseeing, moving from place to place, and still have to deal with the whole race planning. It was a tough one as I am the one that understand fully on each and every details of hosting a tower run plus with many new elements were being introduced to this race (first individual flag off event for all participants, competitive and non-competitive mode, water station setup outside the stairs, marshall placing and their duty, evacuation plan, the flow of the event, even sponsorship).
I prepared the sponsorship slide as well to get more sponsors onboard for this event in less than 2 months time. Initially the event was going to schedule on October, thankfully we managed to postponed it to 10th Nov with an extra month to prepare for it. We were also in a pretty last minute to get the race sanction by Towerrunning World Association under 120 point factor and manage to get the World Top Ranking Towerrunner come and take part in the race and make the race an International one.
Throughout the journey, whenever I was having meeting with new and upcoming potential sponsors for myself, I told them about the TM Tower Run as well. I am glad to have them support the race first before they decide to sponsor me, but some of them decided to support me first and support on Towerrunning sport as well. I am also glad to have my team to replace me for the meeting and to assist on leading the trial run while I was in oversea for Towerrunning race. I would also like to thank Pn. Zulitha from Yayasan TM on putting in tremendous effort on making this event a success. Without her, I will not dare to imagine how the race going to be on the race day.
Long story short, I am satisfied with the whole event and giving a rating of 7/10 leading up the race. I believe it can be much better with a longer time of planning and definitely the 2nd edition going to be much better and well planning. I have learn and gain so much experience on this 3 months journey.
Being the athlete who took part in the race, and also being part of the organising team on making sure the event smooth, follow what have been planned, participants’ safety, and want them to have a good experience in the tower run and come back again next year are one of the most challenging task I ever had in my life.
People asked me, why you want to make your life harder, busy by doing all these when your goal is just to be World No. 1 in Towerrunning sport? I told them I can choose not to be part of all these and fully focus in training and achieve my goal to be World No. 1 but what I want is the sport to grow, hoping that one day the sport can be including in Olympic Sport. I am not just wanting personal success but I see the potential of towerrunning sport can be grow into something big, grand, and international level event due to it’s beauty of sport and the modern urban buildings or towers that the world is building up in the future.
To me, I love Towerrunning Sport and it’s my passion on doing all these, contributing back to the community. To be honest, I didn’t get any payment on contributing all my effort, time on organising this event. I would risk everything to ensure the sport grow, just like how I risk everything to do full-time training as I am a strong believer that I will achieve it with the right planning, effort I put in and of course the support from my family and friends.
“Ask not what your sport ministry can do for you for your sport but what you can do for your sport to grow the sport eventually one day without needing any help from them and able to grow with all the other support you have.”
Thank you once again for reading the long story here. I hope I can inspire you to chase your dream and willing to put in the effort for it.
