八年前今日(2013年6月16日)，第一次在Luneta跟菲律賓及澳洲的同門交流比試。
打完之後，對方很驚訝：這隊香港人，怎麼這般「好戰」又慣打？對我們亦馬上增加了不少敬意。
這是因為，我們Kalis Brotherhood未成立之前的雛形，本來就是 Andy Chan 和我等幾個師兄弟，每星期打打打，經過好幾年學習研究而成的——我叫那個時代做「Stick Fight Club」。
直到今日Kalis Brotherhood都有一個「規矩」： If you’re in, you have to fight.

昨天4月27日，是著名的Battle of Mactan五百週年紀念，宿霧酋長Lapu Lapu率領部落戰士，在此役將史上首位環繞地球的航海家麥哲倫擊斃。
因為1521年這一戰，Lapu Lapu被菲律賓人視為民族英雄，也是抗擊入侵者、追求獨立自主的精神象徵。
Lapu Lapu雖然與流傳至今的菲律賓武術(Eskrima/Arnis)未必真的有關，但當地武者也往往因其勇武而奉他為遠祖。
我們 Kalis Brotherhood 每次去馬尼拉集訓，都會特地去觀賞位於黎剎公園的Lapu Lapu巨大銅像及並拍照留念。它的正式名稱是「自由守護者之像」(Statue of the Sentinel of Freedom)，由韓國自由聯盟出資捐贈，以感謝及紀念曾經在韓戰與南韓並肩作戰的菲律賓軍人。
