The Living Art Festival and Blue Tree Phuket's re-opening is a three-day festival combining music, fashion, arts and crafts, food and more.

Featuring some of Thailand's most sought after artists, that convey works of art through different perspectives.

Concerts, and live music from various artists such as Phum Viphurit, Mariam Grey Alkalali, Q_Flure, Cake B5, Tontrakul, Synth X Factor, EKA SOUNDZ, DJ Nicola Vega and DJ Fen.

This promises to be an amazing community festival, for all ages to enjoy as well as the full re-opening of all areas of Blue Tree Phuket that we all love from the Lifestyle Village, to the Arena and, of course the Blue Tree Lagoon!

Thot Kathin is a traditional Buddhist festival celebrated in Issan (northeast Thailand), Cambodia, and Laos.

The word Thot means making an offering to the monk and the word Kathin literary means the embroidery frame used in sewing the yellow robes which, in those available in plenty as nowadays. Buddhist people regard the “Thot Kathin” ceremony as the most signification form of merit-making nest to the ordination of their close kin. Thus, once in their lifetime everybody is looking forward to having an opportunity to be the sponsor of a Kathin ceremony as it involves a lot of time manpower and expense.

The origin of "thot kathin'' may briefly be told. During the time of Lord Buddha a group of monks on their way to see the
Lord Buddha had to stop and spend a retreat during the rainy season in a certain town before they could reach their destination.

After the retreat ended the monks hastily left before the rainy season had definitely ended. Wet and muddy on their way,they were a sorry sight when they reached their destination. As monks were not allowed at this time to receive robes from anyone and were expected to make their own robes by washing, cutting
and sewing discarded clothing, the Buddha, seeing the dilemma of
the visiting monks, gave permission for any monk to receive a robe presented by anyone during the month after the retreat.

This is the origin of the "thot kathin" ceremony. Later on when the number of robes presented on these occasions did not suffice for all the monks, the Lord Buddha decided that any monk coming out, of retreat; with a robe more tattered (old and torn) than those of his brethren might receive a robe from any person, provided he be well-versed in the
Buddhist Code of Law and provided the donation be approved by all the assembled monks.

Usually in a village or district there is at least one temple meet for religions festive occasions, and the wat also served them in the past as the peoples' spiritual, intellectual and social center. In the old days a village was a self-contained unit. The people grew their own rice and other kinds of vegetable food, built their own honses and other
things by voluntary and reciprocal aid from their neighbors .
They also wove their own cloth. It was the duty of families to train their daughters in the art. of weaving. A girl who could weave skilfully was the pride of her family. Thus there was no cloth for sale in the village. The annual kathin robe for presentation to a monk had to be woven and made beforehand.

Gift-giving is an act of appreciation and gratitude to the monks. Individuals or community groups (such as a village) may perform them. Many villagers combine efforts by collecting cash donations for the maintenance of their local temple. Such donations are vividly arranged on a "money tree".

The "thot kathin" by the villagers is usually never made to their own village wat, but to the wat of another village.
This is a friendly gesture among the different villages, The "thot kathin" is arranged beforehand. When the day of the "thot kathin'' arrives, the donors of the kathin robe will arrange a procession
with music and other entertainments to accompany the kathin robe which is borne either on a decorated cart or on the back of an elephant.

After the ceremony the people of both villages join in games and pastimes until late in the afternoon when the guests take leave of the hosts who may also present them with fruits and other products of the village.

PART 04 - Traveling around the… table - marvelous exotic food in Tainan

Everybody knows Tainan is famous for unlimited number of snacks, night markets and traditional, special Tainan foods. But, what if somehow you want to take a break from that and want to try something truly exotic? Do you need to go to the airport and fly to another country? Well, that’s an option. But, don’t worry - there’s no need to look for your passport if you’re already in Tainan. Why? Because there are lots of mouth-watering dishes waiting for you right here in Tainan. Together we can explore a few of them. So are you ready?

Option number one: How about some Indian food?

瑪哈印度餐廳Maharaja Indian Restaurant
From time to time I crave some Indian food, and Maharaja is a good option. They have decorations that transports you to an Indian Palace, they play Bollywood music videos in the background and they have a solid menu - from Indian curries, kebabs, naan (Indian bread you can soak in sauces) and also typical drinks (mango lassi, Indian spiced teas. They also have starters, for example samosas - Indian fried dumplings. The food is really good, I got my favorite dishes including: palak paneer - spinach and cottage cheese sauce, chicken tikka masala, yellow masala lamb curry, chicken kebabs and more. All these delicious dishes were nicely washed with a mango lassi - Indian style of yogurt. Gotta admit - I loved it.

Option number two: Are you craving for some good Japanese food? Great - I have an excellent place just for you.

Roasted beef steak, Pork fillet, Japanese bbq beef, cheese donburi, Japanese fried chicken (the difference between Taiwanese and Japanese style is that the one from Japan is juicier, Taiwanese style is usually crispier). You can also find hot pots and other dishes at 1.2KG. I love all the dishes - especially the steak.. I am usually a bit sceptical before ordering cheese in restaurants in Taiwan, but the bbq cheese donburi was truly delicious - hands down.

Apart from the tasty dishes, the interior of the restaurant is really stylish and the ambiance is great. You can really feel that the owner put lots of effort into it. You can take lots of great shots if you bring your camera along. The decoration is a bit of a fusion between Japanese and European styles. It feels really good :)

Option number three: Would you like to try the most famous south east asian cuisine here in Tainan? Let’s go Thai then!

泰味食足A Taste of Thailand
The place is well decorated and a cute elephant statue welcomes you from the street. I am always happy to eat some Thai food, and this restaurant made me happy as well.

Usually when I go to Thai restaurants I order my favorite meals: stir-fried spicy minced beef, shrimp pancake and green curry. They also have quite a selection of seafood dishes, steamed fish and steamed shrimps. I started with green papaya salad - it’s a healthy crispy dish full of veggies and unripe papaya. Yummy! Apart from that I tried the rest and I must say all were really good - but the spicy minced beef remains my favorite. If you are in Shanhua this restaurant is definitely a place to visit!

How about some dessert?

光芒果子．小旅行 義式冰淇淋Sunny Mango Gelato
Yujing district of Tainan is mostly famous for its mangoes. But there is way more to discover in that area. Apart from the gorgeous views you can also visit Yujing Old Street. One of the highlights of that place is a real gelato shop.

What is gelato? It’s Italian word that means “frozen” but most commonly it’s known as Italian ice cream. The difference between gelato and ice cream is very subtle - basically gelato is more icy and thick, ice cream is more creamy and soft. There is quite a selection of flavors - from classic ones (fruit, chocolate) to very special flavors (Sun Moon Lake tea, Taiwan beer flavor). Also, I believe the flavors change from time to time, so each time you come you can get some surprises. My favorite gelato was passion fruit, mango and sesame. But let’s be honest - everybody likes a different flavor, so the only way to find out which is your favorite is…. going to Sunny Mango Gelato!

Assalammualaikum,

Cik iena kongsikan vlog semasa sambutan hari lahir rakan cik iena iaitu Zam.
Ini merupakan pertama kali Cik iena hadir majlis hari jadi rakan yang bertema. Lain daripada yang lain. Walaupun sebenarnya Cik iena tak selesa sebab Cik iena tak kenal orang-orang disana kecuali Birthday Boy.

Masa nak catwalk pun segan sebenarnya sebab takde geng tapi ada dua orang kawan zam yang duduk belakang iena bagi sokongan la.. Dorang jerit nama iena. Terima kasih korang berdua. Dan tidak lupa pada Adik Cik iena terutamanya. Thanks juga untuk semua tetamu serta keluarga Zam yang sangat sporting.

Berbekalkan pengamalam catwalk 7 tahun lepas Cik iena catwalk jela. Bila tengok balik haha teruk sangat2 iena catwalk. Dah 7 tahun tak catwalk kan. 7 tahun lepas Cik iena model catwalk. Selalu juga buat fashion show . So untuk berdepan dengan crowd tu takde hal cuma dah lama tak catwalk memang kelaut postur badan :D

Dengar 7 tahun macam lama kan. haha Cik iena ni dah tua. Tua dari Zam..Cuma muka iena baby face. Lagi-lagi kalau without make up :D

Apa-pun thank zam invite iena. Sporting je semua kawan-kawan zam terutamanya lelaki. Memang pakai ikut tema sangat. iena pakai baju biasa-biasa je. Ada lagi cantik dari iena cuma mungkin rezeki iena dapat best dress wanita sebab confident nak catwalk. Kalau iena takde pengalaman catwalk mungkin iena tak menang sebab takde pengalaman.

Baju iena tu memang koleksi iena sendiri dan tak pernah pakai. Bila iena pergi travel iena suka beli baju-baju kebangsaan negara yang iena visit . Cuma aksesori sahaja baru beli.

The huge store has stores of famous brands both in Thailand and abroad, and various events are held on the weekend.
