Do you want to be the very best founder? The best there ever was?
The key is to figure out early WHY you want to do a startup, rather than focusing on WHAT to do.
Much like when we were determined to become the Pokémon Champion, picking any of the starter Pokémons doesn’t alter the result. Once deemed the hardest decision for a young gamer, actually mattered very little. What mattered most was our persistence.
Working as a VC, this is in fact the same formula we observed when differentiating successful founders with their peers. What these great founders actually do on a day-to-day basis have minor variance with other founders, they might check off a few more items on their to-dos and have a tighter packed schedule, but what ultimately places them in first class is the conviction that drives action and relentlessness to overcome any problems they encounter.
So how can an aspiring founder like us wield this power?
It all lies within self-awareness and self-reflection.
Founders too often dive head first into launching a startup because of some technology trend, what VCs are investing in, or potential exits. These reasons will only fuel you for the next 3 - 6 months before burning out, but in reality, any reward that is worth the risk of doing a startup, takes at least 7 years to accomplish. So we need to spend 50x more time thinking about WHY we want to start a startup, and really fine tune our trajectory carefully until we have a strong conviction with our flight path before launching.

When we were young, we all had ambitions, dreams and passion. When we grow up, these visions stay with us or changed over time or it grew even bigger.
As for me, I knew my passion is writing since I was 13 and my dream is to write my own books so I can help more people through my writings. I successfully published a book this year and had grown my website and personal branding.
It took me 17 years to fulfil my ultimate dream which is writing. It didn't happen overnight or in a short period of time. The journey was interesting yet challenging and full of obstacles. I believe if we want something so hard, we need to get ready and get it, no matter how tough it is.
I also received burning questions from fellow writers and aspiring young talents who would also like to publish their book and how can they do it.
My key feedbacks are always read, write, observe and experience. Find your own niche, use your own voice. Understand what's your purpose, why do you write and what do you want your readers to achieve.
If you are serious about writing professionally or want to publish a book, start now. Don't wait. Don't compare yourself to other people's journey. And never give up. There's a lot more for sure, feel free to drop me a DM or email, I'm happy to share.❤

DIMPY BHALOTIA

DIMPY BHALOTIA
Few, very few were the photos in Henri Cartier-Bresson's house; one, maybe two. One, for which the great photographer had a real admiration, was Martin Munkácsi's “Three Boys at Lake Tanganika”. Three kids immortalized from behind who release an irrepressible vitality as they run towards the waters of the lake. Why did Cartier-Bresson love that photograph? Because, as he himself said: "I suddenly understood that photography can fix eternity in a moment". Looking at Dimpy Bhalotia's “Flying Boys” photograph, and with which she won the British Journal of Photography's Female in Focus Award 2020, it seems that the three kids from Munkácsi are back after a 90-year journey. What's more, they seem to have returned to take flight and captured at the precise moment when the photographer's eye, heart and mind are perfectly aligned like a distant constellation. There is, in the photographs of the young Indian woman based in London, something that comes from a precise photographic tradition and that firmly anchors the composition to those three fundamental components mentioned, orienting it towards the search for the moment in which a human episode - and not alone - has the ability to carry out its meaning. Unrepeatable. There’s no shortage of references, and they are a sign of a solid visual culture. What we look at in Dimpy Bhalotia's photographs seems to come out of a story rewritten with new words, new hints but firmly determined to be interpreted through a lexicon that forces us to pause in the quotationist space just the time it takes before taking on a life of its own. And this subtle and graceful vision of things that hovers over events, has that breath that lies within a poetic vision of life, because to take photographs that are able to restore the beauty of a gesture, you need to love life and its interpreters. Here men and animals, caught individually or at the crossroads of mutual interaction, appear to us as subjects that are barely involuntary in dialogue but who, on closer inspection, are captured in the exact moment of a secret dialogue. The strength of Dimpy Bhalotia's photographs comes from afar and therefore is well structured. And it is seen above all in the balancing of forms, in the formal bet played on the body of animal subjects, from which, in other circumstances, we grasp a happy surrealist trace, an ideal terrain in which to resolve certain compositional recklessness. Dimpy Bhalotia's work stops at the confluence of two different photographic currents: humanism and surrealism (Cartier-Bresson himself experienced a very delicate surrealism before founding Magnum), both handled with ease and confidence. Her is a very clear, minimal voice. The compositions obey the commandment to be rigidly set on an essential register, bordering on calligraphic, but the sobriety convinces us of the result. The groove of tradition is traced, but following its path without adding one's footprints is like not having walked through it. Photography is a book that never stops being written, as long as you have something to say. As in this case.

Happy Reformation Day! Today, we want to celebrate not just one, but two really special events.
Many of us know that on Oct 31st, 1517, German monk and scholar Martin Luther set in motion the first Grace Revolution (since the time of the Apostles) when he nailed his Ninety-five Theses to the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany.
In a time when church tradition demanded that Christians pay for their salvation by their own works, his theses marked the beginning of believers all over the world rediscovering the true gospel of Jesus Christ—which declares that we are saved and justified by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.
As we commemorate Reformation Day, let’s take a moment to truly honor and appreciate our Lord Jesus for all that He accomplished at the cross for us. Because of Him, you and I can come boldly to the throne of grace and find grace in time of need (Heb. 4:16).
Interestingly, something happened on Reformation Day on October 31st, 1992. A prophetic minister, Paul Cain, held an event at the National Indoor Stadium in Singapore.
During the event, Paul Cain called out a young man from the crowd, asking him to stand. He prophesied over him, declaring, "The Lord said that you are going to be one of His fiery evangelists."
That young man was not seated in the front section with all the other pastors and leaders from various churches in Singapore. He was just an ordinary attendee seated somewhere in the crowd.
And yet, he was singled out by the Lord through Paul Cain.
That young man was Pastor Prince.
We thought you might want to watch the prophecy that was spoken over Pastor Prince that night, and so we’ve included the full video together with this post.
While it was witnessed by thousands of people who were present at the stadium, none of them could have imagined how the Lord would raise this man, whom we now know and love as our beloved pastor, to be such a powerful voice for the gospel of grace in our generation.
Likewise, we want you to know that you have a purpose, calling, and mission that only you can fulfill.
Even if this has been a very difficult and challenging season for you, hold fast to the promises and prophesies that have been spoken over your life—and may you fulfill your great and wonderful destiny in Christ.
Your best days are ahead of you.
Lots of love,
Team JP

YOU TOO CAN ACHIEVE PASSIVE HAPPINESS
...................................
Since our birth, we have never stopped pursuing happiness. As kids, we cheer when we get to eat our favourite food, play new toys and see new places. As adults, we chase love, career achievements and money.
However, there are some people whose Bazi are really nothing to shout about. When they are young, their academics are so so. When they grow up, they want money but they don't get it. They want a good career, but no, it didn't happen. They crave a good relationship but nah, they never have it. And the family they grow in couldn't give them the warmth in their lives either.
Hence, some of them place their hopes on having children they think belong to them. They envision that they can finally create a loving and warm family. That shall be their ultimate life goal. That is why people work so hard for, isn't it?
But what they didn't realise is that their Bazi were not able to support them in their pursuits. Their dreams and the reality they face every day become a stark disparity. As they have their own families, instead of having more happiness, they get more troubled.
Money still remains scarce, and the spouse turns out be an incompetent parent, causing conflicts and cold wars in the marriage over the children.
The children aren't any better off. Their health fluctuates, they are poor in emotional management, do not listen well to instructions. With both parents working, getting a good maid is necessary. Yet, this maid becomes another headache. Balancing both family and work starts taking a toll on them. Every day is a race against time. There's no living for yourself like what all those new age gurus preached. Worse is when they have no idea EXACTLY WHEN life will be better.
We can't change our Bazi. So as the Chinese saying goes, first is our Destiny, second is our Luck, third will be our Feng Shui. Whatever our Bazi lacks, the smart person will make up for it by using Feng Shui to supplement their own luck.
Don't suffer in vain, when a solution is actually within reach. In many situations, after the home Feng Shui is done right, many problems get resolved. Once this foundation is laid right, even when you are not actively chasing for it like a mad hamster, happiness will descend into your home by default.
So how exactly can Feng Shui give you a peace of mind? I talk about the 6 ways here in this video.

"When We Were Young"
Everybody loves the things you do
From the way you talk to the way you move
Everybody here is watching you
'Cause you feel like home
You're like a dream come true
But if by chance you're here alone
Can I have a moment before I go?
'Cause I've been by myself all night long
Hoping you're someone I used to know
You look like a movie
You sound like a song
My God, this reminds me
Of when we were young
Let me photograph you in this light
In case it is the last time
That we might be exactly like we were
Before we realized
We were sad of getting old
It made us restless
It was just like a movie
It was just like a song
I was so scared to face my fears
Nobody told me that you'd be here
And I swear you moved overseas
That's what you said, when you left me
You still look like a movie
You still sound like a song
My God, this reminds me
Of when we were young
Let me photograph you in this light
In case it is the last time
That we might be exactly like we were
Before we realized
We were sad of getting old
It made us restless
It was just like a movie
It was just like a song
When we were young [4x]
It's hard to admit that
Everything just takes me back
To when you were there
To when you were there
And a part of me keeps holding on
Just in case it hasn't gone
I guess I still care
Do you still care?
It was just like a movie
It was just like a song
My God, this reminds me
Of when we were young
When we were young [4x]
Let me photograph you in this light
In case it is the last time
That we might be exactly like we were
Before we realized
We were sad of getting old
It made us restless
Oh I'm so mad I'm getting old
It makes me reckless
It was just like a movie
It was just like a song
When we were young
