Race Summary of GNR 2021

It was definitely the most wonderful half marathon that I ever did so far. It was cloudy, cooling, little bit of wind at some stretch, great atmosphere with lots of spectators along the way, cheering and supporting us with performances like drums, dance, loud cheers, holding cardboards with motivational quotes and list goes on!

I am so grateful of being able to be the elite category and toe the starting line with Olympians, World Champions, National Record Holders and list goes on!

To be honest, Half Marathon is not my thing at the moment, but I always wanted to run a fast time for this course as my last attempt of this distance was on 5 years ago in Nike We Run KL 21K, whereby I DID NOT FINISH as I collapsed at about 800m before reaching the finishing line. It was due to dehydration and hypoglycemia.

I then went back to 5-10k, sharpen the speed first before attempting another HM and I got into Towerrunning sport in year 2017.

Here we go, after 5 years, while there are not many Towerrunning races, why not give the HM another try. I got confirmation for the slot 6 weeks prior to it and start the training rightaway.

I then got Coach Albert to prescribe me a 6 weeks training program rightaway and did a 5k, 1k and 200m time trial to find out where my current fitness level is.

Juggling between the Towerrunning training, HM program and traveling here and that are not that easy especially during the pandemic time. I clocked a total of about 72km + 1200 floors + 2 weight training sessions weekly for not just the HM but Germany Towerrunning Championship on 29/8.

I started off the race with quite a fast pace and slowly got back into the rhythm. Initially, I was aiming for a Sub 72 min HM (5k - 15:48 | 10k - 33:26). My previous best time was 1:23:59 in Kuching HM 2015 (5k - 17:36 | 10k - 36:42).

After 5k mark, I felt the tiredness, but I tried to still hold the pace. At 10k, until right after we make the U-turn, it was all great still, although I felt the tiredness on my legs already and it was like, half way there!

K ย่อมาจาก Kill หรือการฆ่า
D ย่อมาจาก Death หรือเสียชีวิต
A ย่อมาจาก Assist หรือการที่เราสนับสนุนเพื่อนร่วมทีม

และที่บอกว่าสมาชิกในวงไม่ใช่ มนุษย์ นั่นก็เพราะว่าแทนที่ Riot Games จะฝึกหัดนักร้อง นักแสดงตามแบบฉบับการสร้างศิลปินทั่วไปที่เราคุ้นเคย แต่ทางบริษัทกลับใช้ตัวละครในเกมมาเป็นศิลปิน..

โดยลักษณะแนวเพลงของ K/DA ก็ถูกถอดแบบมาจากเกิร์ลกรุ๊ปเกาหลี ที่กำลังเป็นที่นิยมในยุคปัจจุบัน
ที่มาพร้อมลีลาท่าเต้นที่พร้อมเพรียง พร้อมสไตล์การร้องที่เป็นเอกลักษณ์

แม้ว่าตัวละครในเกมจะไม่มีชีวิตอยู่จริง แต่ค่ายเกม Riot Games ก็ได้ร่วมมือกับศิลปินเกาหลีหน้าใหม่ เช่น ศิลปิน 2 คนจากเกิร์ลกรุ๊ปวง (G)I-DLE เข้ามาให้เสียง ร่วมกับศิลปินหญิงชาวอเมริกันอีก 2 คน ด้วยแนวเพลง EDM (Electronic Dance Music)

สรุปง่าย ๆ ก็คือ วง K/DA มีศิลปินเป็นตัวละครในเกมไม่ใช่มนุษย์ แต่มีเสียงร้องจากศิลปินที่เป็นมนุษย์

แล้วไอเดียดังกล่าวของ Riot Games ปังขนาดไหน?

K/DA เปิดตัวครั้งแรกเมื่อปี 2018 หรือ 2 ปีที่ผ่านมา
ภายในงานการแข่งขัน League of Legends World Championship

โดยกระแสตอบรับที่เกิดขึ้นก็ถือว่าดังถล่มทลาย เพราะ K/DA สามารถเข้าถึงคนทั่วโลกได้ทันที

ส่วนหนึ่งมาจากฐานคนเล่นเกมที่อินกับตัวเกมอยู่แล้ว อีกส่วนหนึ่งก็มาจากฐานแฟนคลับของศิลปินที่ให้เสียงร้องในเพลงรวมกัน

ในขณะที่วงเกิร์ลกรุ๊ปที่เรารู้จักอย่าง AKB48 Group จากญี่ปุ่น หรือ Girls’ Generation จากเกาหลีใต้ ต้องใช้เวลาอย่างต่ำ ๆ ราว 3 ปี เพื่อขยายฐานแฟนคลับออกนอกประเทศบ้านเกิดของตัวเอง

ไอเดียศิลปินสมมติที่สร้างขึ้นโดย Riot Games ถือว่าเป็นกรณีศึกษาที่น่าสนใจ

นั่นก็เพราะว่าความสดใหม่ของตัวศิลปินจะถูกสร้างสรรค์ได้ตลอดเวลาโดยทีมนักพัฒนา และตั้งต้นมาจากตัวละครในเกมที่ผู้เล่นคุ้นเคยกันดี

จุดนี้ต่างจากศิลปินที่เป็นมนุษย์ ที่เริ่มแรกไม่มีคนรู้จัก และต้องอาศัยเพลงเปิดตัวซึ่งเราก็ไม่มีทางรู้ว่าเพลงของเราจะเป็นที่ถูกอกถูกใจในตลาดหรือไม่

นอกจากนั้น มนุษย์เรายังมีข้อจำกัดในเรื่องของการใช้เสียง ความเหนื่อยล้า ความชรา หรือความเจ็บไข้ได้ป่วยมาเกี่ยวข้อง ซึ่งแน่นอนว่าเมื่อศิลปินไม่มีชีวิต อายุขัยของพวกเขาคือ อนันต์..

สำหรับปรากฏการณ์ของ K/DA เราเรียกมันว่า Virtual Pop แปลตรงตัวว่า พ็อปเสมือนจริง

แล้ว K/DA ประสบความสำเร็จขนาดไหน?

ถ้าพูดถึงความโด่งดังที่ออกมาเป็นตัวเลขแล้ว ด้วยยอดผู้ชมบนยูทูบมากถึง 27 ล้านวิวในซิงเกิลของเพลง MORE ที่เปิดตัวไปได้เพียง 7 วัน ก็คงเป็นหนึ่งเครื่องพิสูจน์ได้อย่างดี

นอกจากนี้ หากเรามาดูการเติบโตของช่อง League of Legends บนยูทูบ

ปี 2014 ถึงปี 2017 มีผู้ติดตามเพิ่มขึ้น 2 ล้านคน
ปี 2017 ถึงปี 2020 มีผู้ติดตามเพิ่มขึ้น 5 ล้านคน

ซึ่ง K/DA ได้ถูกก่อตั้งขึ้นในปี 2018 โดยมีการออกซิงเกิลแรก และคอนเสิร์ตในรูปแบบของ Virtual Reality จึงทำให้เราสรุปได้ว่า K/DA เป็นแรงขับเคลื่อนสำคัญที่ทำให้ยอดผู้ติดตามของช่อง League of Legends บนยูทูบเติบโตอย่างมีนัยสำคัญ

และด้วยความสำเร็จที่สามารถเห็นได้นี้ จึงทำให้บริษัทจากผู้ร่วมลงทุนเดียวกันอย่างเกม Arena of Valor (ROV) ก็มีแผนที่จะเปิดตัวเกิร์ลกรุ๊ปเสมือนจริงในรูปแบบ 2 มิติ ออกมาเช่นเดียวกัน

ไม่ได้มีเพียงแค่ผู้ชมหรือผู้เล่นเท่านั้นที่ให้ความสนใจ

บริษัทชื่อดังระดับโลกต่างก็ให้ความสนใจในคอนเซ็ปต์ Virtual Pop ไม่ต่างกัน

สะท้อนให้เห็นจากความร่วมมือทางธุรกิจจากบริษัทยักษ์ใหญ่อย่าง Pepsi, Ducati, Louis Vuitton และ Logitech ก็ได้มีการสร้างแคมเปญร่วมกับวง K/DA ในการออกสินค้าทั้งบนโลกออนไลน์ และสินค้าในโลกของความเป็นจริง

ถึงตรงนี้ เราอาจเรียกได้ว่าวง K/DA สามารถสร้างมาตรฐานใหม่สำหรับวงการเพลงไปแล้วเรียบร้อย

ซึ่งความเคลื่อนไหวในลักษณะเดียวกันก็ยังมีให้เห็นทั้งจากบริษัทค่ายเพลงยักษ์ใหญ่จากเกาหลีใต้อย่าง SM Entertainment กำลังเตรียมเปิดตัว วง Aespa ซึ่งจะเป็นเกิร์ลกรุ๊ปวงแรกที่มีการนำเทคโนโลยี AI เข้ามาร่วมใช้งานกับมนุษย์

หากย้อนกลับไปมองวงการบันเทิงในอดีต ที่ศิลปินหนึ่งคนต้องใช้ หน้าตา รูปร่าง การดูแลตัวเอง และการฝึกฝนอย่างหนัก กว่าที่จะได้เป็นศิลปินดัง มีผู้ติดตามที่เยอะ และสร้างรายได้นั้นไม่ง่ายเลย

แต่เทคโนโลยีในยุคปัจจุบันกลับสามารถสร้างศิลปินจากจินตนาการที่สามารถสร้างประสบการณ์บันเทิงได้แม้แต่การจัดคอนเสิร์ตเป็นของตัวเอง

ก็น่าติดตามกันต่อไปว่าวงการศิลปินจากโลกเสมือนจะสร้างความฮือฮาอะไรอีกในอนาคต

แต่ที่แน่ ๆ สิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นในวันนี้จะกลายมาเป็นความท้าทายของศิลปินในยุคถัดไปอย่างไม่ต้องสงสัย

Amazing JIRO, special effects and body paint artist teams up with Jon Boogz, director and choreographer for NO STRINGS to share a compelling and striking visual narrative about emancipating ourselves to incite social change.

＜Artists Bio＞
Amazing JIRO - After graduating Tokyo University of the Arts and entering the world of special effect makeup, JIRO established JUR Co., Ltd.

Currently, JIRO works not only as special effects makeup artist but also as a creative director in film, drama, TVCM, and other fields. His power of expression and solid techniques are highly praised by people in and out of Japan. JIRO is attracting attention as a reformer of face paint, SFX makeup, and art.

After winning 2 championships at TV TOKYO TV Champion – Special Effect Makeup Artists Championship, JIRO became a certified champion. He was also introduced as one of the “Make-up Around the World: the Global Family of Artists on Make-Up Magazine,” which is read in more than 70 countries.

He creates artwork with advanced painting techniques and is attracting the world with his powerful ideas and quality works.


Jon Boogz is a movement artist, choreographer, and director who seeks to push the evolution of what dance can be – sharing with audiences of all backgrounds an appreciation of the melding of art forms while inspiring and bringing awareness to social issues.

Originally motivated to dance by the work of Michael Jackson, Boogz has choreographed for notable icons including Mikhail Baryshnikov, Naomi Campbell, Gloria Estefan; for Pharrell’s Adidas Originals HU Campaign to creative direct, choreography, and perform in Standing Rock at ComplexCon; and as creative consultant for ads launching campaigns for Apple and Lexus. Boogz’s collaborators include TriBeCa Film Festival, DAIS, Lil Buck, and Flying Lotus; his choreography is used in FOX’s “So You Think You Can Dance”; Cirque du Soleil’s MJ ONE; he was featured at the Geffen Playhouse’s “Backstage at the Geffen” with his dance company Control Freakz, Lil Buck, and spoken word artist Robin Sanders; and at TED Vancouver’s TED Prize session.

Boogz wrote, choreographed, directed and danced in Color of Reality, a short film in collaboration with visual artist Alexa Meade. The work continues to receive coverage internationally and won Great Big Story’s Art as Impact Award; Best Experimental at Toronto International Short Film Festival; and Concept Video of the Year from World of Dance, among others. His forthcoming projects seek to merge movement with fine art, film, technology, and the stage.

Under the tuition of Mr. Lee Sheung-ching, Leo has gained exposure to classical harmonica training since 6. However, his performance reveals extraordinary flexibility, ranging from classical, folk, pop, jazz to rock music. In 2010, Leo is invited as a guest performer in the Hong Kong Art Festival with the King's Harmonica Quintet. As the lead player in the Veloz Harmonica Quartet, he has also been invited to perform in Macau, Singapore, Prague, Munich, Ljubljana and Bratislava since 2011. As a soloist, in 2012, Leo was invited to give solo and duo performance at the 25th Anniversary concert series of the Norwegian Harmonica Organization in Norway and received high acclaims. In 2013, meanwhile as a participant, he is invited to perform in the 'Young Chromatic Talents' gala concert and offering workshop in the World Harmonica Festival. Recently in 2014, Leo has participated in a jazz tour in Poland collaborating with the prominent 3-0-3 Tango Fusion Band from Argentina. His energetic and soulful improvisation has gained wide recognition.

卓彥六歲起先後隨張健寧先生及李尚澄先生習口琴，以古典音樂為基楚。但他演奏的靈活性­極高，曲風不限於古典音樂，亦包括爵士音樂，民瑤，搖滾，以至流行音樂。卓彥早於20­10年已有幸受邀參與英皇口琴五重奏在香港藝術節的演出，其後亦以VELOZ口琴四重­奏主音的身份，以爵士音樂，民瑤及流行音樂，遠赴澳門，新加坡，布拉格，慕尼黑，盧布­爾雅那，布拉迪斯拉發等表演，大受好評。叧外他亦於2012年獲邀於那威口琴協會25­周年演奏會中以獨奏及二重奏方式演出，其高超的演奏技巧及細膩且有活力的音樂感於是次­演奏會中獲得極高評價。而於2013年世界口琴節，他亦同為《Young Chromatic Talents》演奏會中的表演嘉賓。近年，卓彥亦於爵士音樂界大於異彩，剛於201­4年6月在波蘭多個城市參與阿根廷著名探哥爵士樂隊3-0-3的巡迴演出。其精湛的即­興技巧及舞台上非凡的魅力，為海外觀眾帶來深刻的演出。

Highly influence by his father PC Ho, the founder of Hong Kong Harmonica Association, he is keen on developing and promoting the art of harmonica. Benefit from the strong history of classical harmonica culture in Hong Kong, Leo developed a promising classical music foundation at tender age. After obtaining the World Championship in the World Harmonica Festival 2013, he began his further exploration off the harmonica. Over the years, he has developed technique, stage presence, cross-genre possibility that is beyond imagination for a harmonica artist.
