This is the boy who loves purple and pink, can do a split, loves to dance, likes his Hello Kitty shirt and is still my clingy koala despite the fact that he is turning five in two months.

"Papa says I need to be more man while Mama says it's okay to be who I am." Haha.

Yup, I know this baby boy of mine will grow up someday, which will probably come sooner than I expect, so for now, I am cherishing every bit about him.

That includes all the cute babyish things he says and does, like how he calls me his little princess, how he insists that he loves me more than I love him, how he wants me to carry him out of bed every morning, how he rushes up to me every time someone hugs me, how he doesn't like me taking photos with others, how he says he will still kiss me everyday when I am old, and how he still wants me to call him my baby.

I once told him I love the little him because he is too cute but truth is I will love him at every stage of his growing up. Just take your time to do so, my boy, to discover who you are, to chase your own dreams and to live your life. Don't let anyone tell you what you can't do and never dull your sparkle. I ❤ U!

Practising for her first ever 默写.

Thankful for this girl who is very independent when it comes to spelling and dictation and does her own weekly revision. Phew. Yup, all I do is take a quick glance to check for errors (like how she wrote 使 wrong here so I would point it out to her) and then sign on her book when the time comes.

I was tickled by the fact that the first paragraph looked totally like something I used to write in my younger days and even before she could finish writing it, I already guessed most of the words. Haha. My mil always says that her handwriting resembles mine while my bestie whom I have known since Sec 1 totally thought her words were written by me. 真的有像吧.

I also realised their syllabus ain't easy and while I can't recall what I did in upper primary, it just means both of us have to learn together along the way. For instance, she was dismayed that I didn't know what are xylem and phloem - science was my worst subject - and I had to read up before I could jog my memory about something I learnt over two decades ago. I had to explain to her that there are countless things I don't know (妈妈不是万能的) or might have forgotten about but we should be thankful that at least I am here beside her and we can learn together mah. Guess it will only get harder and if we are to continue to stay tuition-free, I will need to buck up too.

It's never easy teaching your own child (because it's much easier for both parties to fly into a temper) but I hope we can do it well hand in hand. If anything, it warms my heart seeing how she in turn teaches her younger sister and brother and they see her as their mentor too. As tough as it may be being the eldest, I think she makes a good 大姐姐 and it is my blessing to have her. That said, I also remind myself to let her be a baby at times and shower her with more ♥️ because that is what she will always be to me - my baby girl.
