思覺失調,過去稱為「精神分裂」,是精神/身心科中常見的臨床疾病。不過,這樣的疾病並沒有得到多數民眾的關注與了解。

在思覺失調還被稱為「精神分裂」的年代,這個詞常常與「人格分裂」混淆。不過,兩者是不一樣的疾患。
人格分裂(現已稱為解離性身份障礙症,Dissociative identity disorder)的主要特色是:解離性失憶和身份認同轉變,這兩種症狀並非思覺失調的主要症狀。
