Eric Lee - Clicker Training & Dog Learning
•Animal Earth No Hide Chews
Love this from Superhounds Diane Kasperowicz. Always consider the drive that creates a behaviour not just how you could change the outcome.
Young children are also well known to become “bitey”, emotional, “chewy”, grumpy, sad etc when they are teething. They ll put anything in their mouth and will often bite hard too. Puppies are the same.
Give them appropriate things to chew on - this varies with personal preference and breed (due to jaw shape and tooth strength) : frozen carrots, frozen bread slices, cold apple slices, or meaty chews etc. Ideally a few times a day but definitely when they start to get grabby. Feed puppies under 6 months frequently to help keep sugar levels and therefore emotional tolerance, stable. Make sure they have at least 16 hours sleep across 24 hours - social sleep is best quality for most pups.
Don’t rely on fast exercise / games to “tire them out” as this typically increases arousal chemicals in brain and blood stream making frustration and biting more likely. Use scent work, social opportunities, calm reward training, physical enrichment experiences as the main exercise. Set your puppy up to succeed and enjoy this special time.

The other day we white guys who speak perfect Chinese went out to NYC’s Chinatown to the nail salon. They were “gossiping” about us (in a loving way!), not realizing we spoke Mandarin, and then we totally shocked them by switching to Chinese! We ended up having a really deep and interesting conversation with them in Mandarin and the rare Chinese dialect of Fuzhounese.
So to find out what they are REALLY saying about you at Asian nail salons…just watch the video! It was a funny prank / social experiment but also a really meaningful experience. Plus of course it’s interesting if you’re interested in language learning!

Today I went to NYC’s Brooklyn Chinatown as a clueless white guy and got food and chatted with locals in the rare Chinese dialect of Fuzhounese. They were totally stunned!!! This is Part 2 of our Fuzhounese adventure in NYC’s Brooklyn Chinatown of Sunset Park (8th Avenue).
It was a really fun prank and social experiment to see Chinese people’s reactions — both the waiters and the other patrons in Sunset Park were totally shocked! Then we walked around in the Chinese New Year parade and chatted with vendors and other people in Fuzhounese and Mandarin; their reactions were hilarious as well!
