Techspot รายงานจากทีมงาน Metacritics ยืนยันว่าได้ทำการลบคอมเมนต์วิจารณ์ด้านลบเกม Death Stranding จากผู้ใช้เป็นจำนวนมากที่เข้าข่ายเป็นการ "แสดงพฤติกรรมน่าสงสัย" และ "เพื่อหวังปรับคะแนนโดยเฉพาะ" หรือเกมเมอร์หลายคนเรียกกันว่ารีวิวบอมบ์ โดย Metacritics กล่าวว่า...

"Metacritics มีนโยบายเพื่อคงรักษาความสมบูรณ์ของคะแนนเกมไว้ ทางฝ่ายผู้ดูแลจึงเข้าตรวจสอบเว็บไซต์ และลบ (เนื้อหารีวิว) ทุกอย่างที่ไม่ตรงกับ guidelines ของเรา"

ชาว Reddit นามว่า u/argandg สังเกตพบว่าช่วงวันที่ 4-5 ธันวาคมที่ผ่านมา ความคิดเห็นรีวิวด้านลบจากผู้ใช้ถูกลบออกจาก Metacritics ถึง 6,429 คอมเมนต์จากทั้งหมด 9,335 คอมเมนต์ ซึ่งตอนนี้ คอมเมนต์รีวิว Death Stranding มีด้านบวก 9,049 และมีคอมเมนต์ด้านลบเหลือเพียง 3,479 เท่านั้น รวมถึงคะแนน User Score จาก 5.1 ได้ถูกดันเป็น 7.2 คะแนน

Death Stranding ถือเป็นเกมที่มีกระแสวิจารณ์ทั้งมีคนชอบกับคนเกลียดอย่างเห็นได้ชัด แต่เกมเมอร์บางกลุ่มทำการรีวิวบอมบ์กดคะแนน Death Stranding ใน Metacritics โดยมีสาเหตุหลักจากความรู้สึกผิดหวังของเกม, โฆษณาเกมผิดพลาดว่าเป็นเกมแอ็กชัน และความไม่พอใจส่วนตัวต่อ Hideo Kojima ที่เคยกล่าวสัมภาษณ์ว่า "คนอเมริกันนิยมเล่นเกม FPS" ซึ่งประโยคดังกล่าวถูกนำไปแปลผิดพลาด จนก่อให้เกิดการสื่อสารเพี้ยนกลายเป็นการเสียดสีต่อว่าผู้เล่นอเมริกันโดยไม่ได้ตั้งใจ
