[How to find the right marketing channel that’ll work for you]
In the world where almost every app, website, and even internet browsers are tracking our digital footprint, more than ever before, we have the ability to place our adverts in front of any customer. But increasingly, I’ve seen this act as a double edged sword for founders and their startup, they end up buying all types of advertising, retargeting tools, across multiple platforms and channels, burning through their marketing budget without really moving the needle. This got me thinking, what’s the best practice in selecting the right marketing channel, especially with a constrained budget?
#Back_to_basics:
We start with the customer journey, what hurdles does your customer need to overcome in order to purchase your product. Can this decision be made by the customer alone? Or do they have to discuss this with their significant other? maybe a parent? or their manager? or even the CEO. Understanding the decision process and parties involved, lets you narrow down the audience segment and how to target them. You want to have marketing strategies for both your customer and the decision makers, selling to engineers and selling to CEOs are equally important but they are very different. The fundamental difference lies between:
#Eyeballs:
Your customer will most likely have a very different digital footprint compared to the decision maker. Just like a parent doesn’t watch as much Youtube as their kids, neither will a CEO compare to the average engineer. So if your customer’s decision marker hasn't heard about you, the hurdle you’ll need to overcome is much higher.
There is a high chance their digital footprint falls into the biggest websites in the world, like Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, and local forums like Dcard/Reddit. So as these websites invest millions of dollars in R&D to compete for screen time, the only way to increase your exposure is to find the touch points they engage with on these platforms. Which brings me to my last point:
#Influencers_KOLs_Entertainers:
As the entertainment industry follows the retail industry’s footsteps in decentralization, we become less influenced by mainstream media and top down commercials. Customers now have direct and uninterrupted access to influencers, opinion leaders, and entertainers, who they resonate with on a much deeper level. Whether it is their taste in food, music, fashion, or personal values. I’m very bullish on influencers, KOLs, and the future of social commerce. Although it is a very fragmented space, but with diligent testing and supervision, I have seen startups successfully operate influencers and KOLs as a positive ROAS channel.

Christopher Janwong McKiggan's piano playing has been called as “masterful, highly contrasted and sharply characterized” (Gramophone magazine) and he has been hailed as a pianist "[with] astounding technique… startling poise and control" (Kansas City Star), "[with] astonishing virtuosity and piano coloration" (The Citizen), “proving to be Colossus, converting every piece into a virtuoso composition” (The Manila Times) and been called the best hope for a global music of the future (Fanfare). Christopher won the Gold medal in the Seattle International Piano Competition, a top prize as laureate at the prestigious 12th UNISA International Piano Competition (wfimc) and won numerous other awards including second prize in the Isabel Scionti International Music Competition, first prize in the Bradshaw and Buono International Piano Competition and awards in other national and international competitions around the world. He is also the recipient of the Presser Award for an upcoming international relations project titled "Resonance of Hope". He has been featured in over a dozen magazines in Thailand (Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, Esquire, Cosmopolitan, L’officiel, L’optimum Thai editions, among others), appeared in many TV programs, and been featured in numerous newspapers around the globe. Rob Landes is an award-winning violinist who started playing the violin at 3 years in Orem, Utah. Born to a large musical family, Rob gave his first solo recital at 10 years old, and at 12 performed in the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on the Disney Channel with the Disney Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra. Also at age 12, Rob founded a piano trio that performed in concert at Brigham Young University, as well as for private events and special occasions throughout his teenage years.
Rob has won first prize in the Utah Symphony Youth Guild music competition and as a result, debuted with the Utah Symphony at 13 performing the first movement of Bruch’s Violin Concerto in g minor. Rob went on to win numerous local and state competitions and soloed with the Utah Valley Symphony, San Diego Chamber Orchestra, BYU Philharmonic, and BYU Chamber Orchestra. As a first violinist of the BYU Chamber Orchestra, Rob performed in more than twenty cities throughout central and southern Europe, and as concertmaster of the orchestra, gave a concert to a sold-out audience in New York’s Carnegie Hall.
While studying at Rice, Rob began covering rock and pop music, and upon returning to Salt Lake City after graduation, began playing with a looper pedal which he uses to create intricate and stunning arrangements of today and yesterday’s most popular music Rob recently won the award for "Best Instrumental" at the Utah Music Awards for his rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah”. 這首歌是之前街頭演出後,很常被問到的~~想想也倒是蠻符合默默但帶給人溫暖的意思。
仔細聽可以發現是利用弦樂編曲,所以感覺情緒渲染力更強了!
有些粉絲應該知道,如果有街頭演出,我每次演奏都會加入當天即興的部分。
演奏這首的時候,突然想起之前有段時間似乎沒有調整好心態而迷失的狀態,有種為了演奏而演的感覺,那時候覺得內心很脆弱也對自己覺得很陌生,但是每每演到這首歌的時候,都好像透過音樂聆聽自己心裡的想法(還有內心各種疑惑XD),嘗試用這種方式和自己對話,站在人來人往的信義區被群眾包圍著,但似乎也不為誰演出。
常常覺得每個人都有個守護著自己的天使,在需要的時候化身成身邊的某個人,這個人可能是陌生人,但是陌生的天使卻是來幫助你、給你鼓勵,然後悄悄地離開。
真的很想念以前還能街頭演出的時期,回想起來,雖然有些聽眾也只是默默聽幾首歌就離開,但透過眼神的交流鼓勵肯定,想起來都會感覺暖暖的。

Some fans know that I always add some surprise when busking.
The song reminds me of those days when I felt like lost. At that time, I felt fragile and was like asking myself who you are. But after playing the song, it always helps me to listen to my own thoughts and trying to have conversation with myself in my own way.
Really miss those busking days =]

上週先cover劇場版主題曲後,一堆人敲碗了紅蓮華。
果然是子安的粉絲都知道可以使用的「敲碗法」,分為各種流派敲法,但不管怎麼敲,使用之後都能讓子安cover自己想聽的歌的機會大幅提升。
這首由LiSA本人作詞的紅蓮華,寫著LiSA自己的感觸在裡面。
LiSA非常有共感動漫主角在各種災厄之中憑藉自己力量苦苦奮鬥的故事,所以歌詞寫出了「被世界擊潰」、「知曉了失敗的意義」,這些代表在面對挫折時還是會再次面對的意象,也是LiSA在現實中感受到,搭配動畫熱血劇情,唱出主角內心的澎湃洶湧。

After covering 《Homura》 last week, I got sooooo many requests for Gurenge.
So I guess my audience all well understand the secret of requesting songs lol
Gurenge was written by LiSA herself, and it was all about how she feels the world.
It's like telling her own story when the main character in the DemonSlayer (animation ver.) struggling himself with various disasters, so the lyrics goes with "crushed by the world" and "knowing the meaning of failure," which reflects that shit things always happen but life goes on.

今天帶來#LiSA 演唱幾天前奪下日本單曲公信榜第一名的#炎,是#鬼滅之刃 劇場版的主題曲。
沒有看過也沒有關係,聽旋律也可以感受到其中的壯闊、悲傷和溫柔。
一首好的主題曲總是可以幫助一部作品更完整,在螢幕淡去觀眾漸漸散場時, 用旋律來傾訴劇中人物的思緒延伸,也像是傳遞給觀眾那些沒能說完的話。
在這邊就先不爆雷劇情了,但是鬼滅是一部非常有趣的作品,不管是劇情本身,或是後續的影響和討論,交織出豐富又多元的世界觀。

Hi we are back~~cover of this week goes to Homura , the theme song of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train.
It's def okay if you haven't watched it (but strongly recommend!!!)
You can still feel the sadness even through the the melody, and I think it really completed the movie and it is what a great theme song should be like. When the lights on, the melody in the end is like saying what the characters in the movie are thinking, and like telling the unfinished words to the audience.
