Does your child want to quit?
How do we respond as parents?
It was an honor to sit down and talk to Eva from Leaderonomics on the building resilience in our little ones.

The 3 main takeaways I wanted listeners to bring home were:
1. Ask WHY
We have to ask why and not just the surface why (it’s boring, it’s hard, I don’t like it anymore, etc) but the real why (I feel left out, inadequate, rejected, etc) in order to really be able to address the heart of what is going on. Why do you want to quit? What is the hard that you feel you cannot conquer? What is the story you are telling yourself?
2. Create SAFE
The Gut brain is designed to keep us safe. In survival mode, all rationality, logic, thought is thrown out the window in the quest of staying safe and protected. The key then is to focus on creating safe - listening, understanding, acknowledgement, empathy, and breathwork. Learning and progress cannot happen without feeling safe and supported.
3. SHARE the experience
We all need a witness and are wired for love and belonging. Building resiliency and leadership skills rely on going through hardship, developing the grit and mastery, but mostly, TRUST. The magic is can you get in the boat w them in the hard? Can someone root you on without taking away the mastery from you?
