Apply to 2014 Strait Talk in Brown University
Hello,
Greetings! My name is Teresa Yang, and I am the Brown University Strait Talk 2014 Director of Recruitment. I'm writing this email in hopes that you could pass on the following message to interested students or young professionals and encourage them to attend the 2014 Strait Talk Symposium being held at Brown University from November 14th to November 21st, 2014. Thank you very much for your help and please extend the invitation to anyone who might be interested and encourage them to apply!
Do you want to learn more about the Taiwan Strait Issue? Are you interested in meeting people from China, Taiwan and the United States? Are you an open-minded individual who is prepared to engage in an intellectually stimulating dialogue with people from all sides of the issue? If you answered “yes” to all three questions, then you are ready to apply to 2014 Brown University Strait Talk Symposium, held at Brown University from November 14th to November 21st!
Strait Talk is a nonpartisan, youth-run organization that exists to foster peaceful progress on the Taiwan Strait issue through educating, connecting, and empowering young leaders from both sides of the Taiwan Strait and the United States. Currently in its tenth year, Brown University Strait Talk has brought together more than 250 Chinese, Taiwanese, and Americans to learn and take action on the cross-Strait issue. The symposium has inspired many delegates to go on to initiate programs and activities that promote a peaceful cross-Strait future in their hometowns and around the world.
The week-long symposium will bring together 15 delegates from Taiwan, the US and China to engage in over 35 hours of constructive dialogue sessions as well as conflict resolution workshops to come up with feasible proposals for a sustainable cross-Strait future. Prominent speakers and professors from different US universities and think tanks will also meet and speak with the delegates and discuss cross-Strait issues in various panels throughout the week. At the end of the week, delegates will have the chance to discuss and present their proposals to various policy think tanks in Boston.
We hope to recruit interested students or young professionals (ages 18-35) to apply as part of the American, Chinese and Taiwanese delegations to the symposium. Application forms are attached, and additional information is available on our website: straittalkbrown.com. Should you have any questions, please feel free to email me at straittalktaiwan@gmail.com. The application deadline is October 6th, 2014.
Best Wishes,
Teresa Yang
