據《金融時報》北京時間9月23日報道，前英國圖形芯片技術公司Imagination
Technologies（以下簡稱“Imagination”），與中資私募投資公司Canyon Bridge達成出
售協議，價格約為5.5億英磅（約合人民幣49億元）。在蘋果表示將在iPhone等產品中棄
用其技術不久後，Imagination今年6月表示將出售公司。蘋果是Imagination最大客戶，
也是其最大股東之一。
1周半前，Canyon Bridge斥資13億美元收購美國芯片廠商Lattice半導體公司的計劃被特
朗普總統以國家安全為由否決。 Canyon Bridge收購Imagination的交易不包括後者的美
國業務部門MIPS將由矽谷投資公司Tallwood Venture Capital以6500萬美元收購。
Canyon Bridge的收購交易將以MIPS出售交易完成為條件。
外國公司收購Imagination，標誌著最新一起英國高科技公司出售給外國投資者的交易。
去年，芯片設計公司ARM被軟銀以240億英磅收購。
為了使交易更容易通過英國政府審查，Canyon Bridge表示將繼續投資Imagination英國研
發部門，“沒有計劃”裁減員工或將業務遷移到其他國家。Canyon Bridge發言人表示，
在達成交易前，公司代表與英國政府官員進行了會晤。
Canyon Bridge周五在公布收購Imagination交易的新聞稿中表示，“Canyon Bridge的投
資策略不是把業務遷移到中國，而是使它們在中國更有競爭力，進入中國這個全球最大的
手機市場。”
在4月份公布蘋果將不再使用其技術後，Imagination股價當天暴跌60%。
蘋果今年發布的新款iPhone，據稱使用蘋果自主設計的圖形處理器。對於智能手機遊戲、
人工智能和虛擬現實應用而言，圖形處理器非常關鍵。
Canyon Bridge合夥人雷·賓漢姆（Ray Bingham）表示，獲得該公司投資後，
Imagination將“繼續投資開發其技術，吸引和聘請最好的工程師，向全球客戶提供更好
的服務。我們的投資，目的是加速Imagination的擴展，尤其是在亞洲市場”。
Imagination首席執行官安德魯·希思（Andrew Heath）把這一交易稱作對股東來說“非
常好的結果”。他在一份聲明中說，“在蘋果宣布棄用我們技術的前18個月，
Imagination在業務運營和財務方面取得了很大進展。這一收購交易將確保Imagination有
強勁的增長前景，仍然是一家獨立的知識產權許可企業，雖然公司在英國，業務卻遍及全
球。”
Imagination董事會支持這一交易，“Imagination董事認為，計劃中的收購交易向
Imagination股東提供了非常好的結果，確保公司業務的進行。”
感想:這個交易補齊了中國IC設計重要的一塊拼圖，中國IC設計還差FPGA、CPU、高階MCU、
MMES。華為和展訊可能會開始用Imagination的GPU架構?
