{IG Giveaway} Does your child face difficulty or is unwilling to read Chinese books? Perhaps injecting some fun will be a good way to increase their interest. I've recently discovered that one good way is get them started is to read and learn through comics.
Good news, Marshall Cavendish Education has
launched its latest comic series: Nao Nao Comics Street, Le Le Brainwave Comicsand Old Master Q Happy Idioms. The girls have been reading these at home and told me that they enjoy reading them and don't find learning Chinese idioms and sentence structures so mundane anymore.
YEAH! Chinese Idioms is a brand-new comics series and the latest addition which focuses on a group of triplets, “Xin Xin”, “Jia Jia” and “Po Po” (新加坡). Readers get to learn new idioms as they read about the triplets’ fascinating encounters. Each book features a total of 50 commonly-used idioms (swipe to see more) and these are taught in a fun-filled and engaging way. I've always found teaching 成语 to my kids tough so this definitely comes in handy for us.
In Le Le Brainwave Comics, kids get to learn fundamental mathematics concepts through stories of Le Le and his family. They get to solve maths questions and hone their problem-solving skills too, for example, they learn about shapes, arithmetics and matchstick puzzles. This is the first time my 6yo is reading this series and she finds it fun to learn both Math and Chinese with Le Le on his adventures.
All the comic series are now available in major bookstores and you can get them at 20% off retail price at Singapore Book Fair which runs to 9 June at Capitol Singapore.
For those who are keen, I am giving away three sets of:
📘 Yeah! Idioms Book 1
📗 Le Le Brainwave Comics Book 2
📙 Notebooks x 2 (Le Le and Yeah!)

1. When and how did you get started in Cosplay?
I have cosplayed since 2013. I knew it from friends, I watched clips on Youtube, felt interested and still have continued until now.
2. What was your first Cosplay? Ciel Phantomhive from Kuroshitsuji
3. What was the most difficult character?
Ciel Phantomihive – this was the first character I cosplayed. Everything was difficult from the beginning, since I didn’t know and have much experiences. Tailoring costumes, for instance, when choosing a suitable place, I had to tailored some times, leant how to make up, lost weight to be appropriate to characters, stood at the mirror to adjust emotion, shape. And also covering one eye limited my eyesight, which was very annoying at the beginning.
4. What characters are you planning and type of character are you drawn to?
In the coming times, I will have a project with one friend, I will cos Misha of Ringdoll. I like characters who are cold, serious, parting hair, and also shota.
5. What is your process when starting from the beginning with a new cosplay?
Firstly choosing character I like, who is suitable for me in both appearance and facial expression, learning about the character, including: personality, facial expression, habit, costume… And then start!
6. Are there any helpful hints in sewing, costume design or any other aspects of your cosplay that you discovered in doing your creations?
Search best things for the costumes but you have to restrict, your costume is like a picture, which has the main and supplement parts, sometimes you highlight it, but sometimes have to give up something. Learn to be economical, there are things you already have or can buy with low price, things can be recycled and made to be perfect to the costume.
7. Do you have a preferred brand of makeup in your cosplay? And if so why?
Recently I quite prefer Flormar, it’s quite resonable priced in terms of powder and foundation is pleasant.
8. What are you listening to? Hyaku Renka -Takasugi Satomi

18. Favorite Breakfast cereal? KoKo Krunch, Nestle Milo.
19. Is there something not going on in the cosplay world that you would want to see or is there something you would want to change?
I think workshops are needed for people to learn/exchange experiences, and communicate with each other.
20. What was your favorite toy growing up? I like dolls, things related to toku.
21. Who is your biggest character crush and why? William T. Spears, Reisi Munakata ,.... I like characters who wear glasses and serious.

There are FIVE GHOUL CLOWNS, playing a dancing video game. They have razor sharp teeth and scary weapons. Magic can not affect them; they sense your presence and turn facing you. They run to you to attack. Time to fight! What character would you want to be to defeat them and how would you handle the situation?
If it is Sesshomaru, then nothing is scary.
23. If you had to be chained with a character for one year, what would be the character and what would you do?
Reisi Munakata. Of course I will try to hug, Then think of a solution, I believe that Reisi will find out the way
