As Christmas is approaching, almost all pastry shops, restaurants, and hotels in France are presenting their "bûches de nöel" ("Yule log" in English). Traditionally, a bûche is shaped as and looks like a real log, made by cake rolls glazed with heavy buttercream and then decorated. Modern French pastry chefs nowadays never limit their imaginations and creativity nevertheless. When it comes to make a Christmas cake, their creations go far beyond a simple log.
