There’s so much to say and that I don’t know where to begin. There’s so much to thank for and yet I don’t know which shall I start with.
One thing for sure I am thankful that I have a mother, a protector, a best friend that I can argue with, cry with and always give squishies with.. I sometimes even wonder if you know that this man is half of what he is because of your love and guidance.
one good thing that came out of this whole pandemic is me having the time to repay for the time lost in spending with you and getting to know you better.. we roll our eyes, we laugh, we sit in silent, we grow..

Protected from a Horse Riding Accident in Iceland

See the cute horse below? I took this photo in 2014 when I was at Laxnes Horse Farm in Iceland with Amilee. It was very cold, with chilly winds blowing that day. The landscape was golden fields, blue lakes and snow capped mountains all around.

We booked a horse riding session and were excited. I mounted my ebony horse, and after some briefing from the instructors, we were allowed to ride on our own, on a huge circular route, back to the horse farm.

Seeing my horse trotting so slowly, I was feeling somewhat bored and wanted it to go slightly faster. As I struck the reins repeatedly on the beast’s back, suddenly, it burst into a wild gallop, as if to say, “You want to go faster? I’ll give you fast then.”

It ran so fast that my feet flew out of the stirrups and now the only things keeping me on the horse were my hands gripping the reins tightly and my inner thighs tightly hugging the horse’s back.

The horse was galloping as fast as those you see knights riding on in movies. I really thought I was going to be thrown off the horse and was hanging on for dear life, with my thighs chaffing and tailbone bumping painfully against the saddle every few seconds. At other moments, I felt like I was flying and defying gravity.

I felt so helpless. There was no one I could call to for help. Even if I shouted, no one would hear me as the next person was so far behind and there were no instructors around.

After what seemed like ages, the horse farm was finally in sight. The instructors waiting at the farm looked worriedly when they saw me and the horse approaching so quickly. They just laughed asking if I was okay, and I laughed too saying I was fine, but really, that was a scary experience.

After the whole experience, Amilee who was on a different horse behind said that I looked really cool riding so fast on the horse. Thankfully she saw the scene from behind and didn’t see my face!

I just recalled this incident yesterday and realized that it can be counted as a near-death experience. A complete beginner like me riding on a horse galloping at what seemed like full speed could be potentially fatal.

I thank God for protecting me and giving me the grace to hang on tightly so that I wasn’t injured at all through the experience. It could have been much worse with broken bones, fractures or worse, a snapped neck.

If you ask me if I would ride a horse again after experiencing that, yes I would! I secretly found it fun. In fact, I did go horse riding again with Amilee in Bali after that. Thank God for a brave, adventurous spirit! 😄

One thing I learned from the experience was that only God can keep us safe. I was in a situation were I felt helpless and there was no one to turn to. Our body of flesh is so fragile and this is a dangerous world. The only thing to do is to pray and cry out to Jesus for help, which I did not do at that time. Back then, I hadn’t matured in the Lord as much yet. Prayer should always be response number one when faced with any danger!

I miss traveling now although last year of today, I began a seriously crazy journey!

Throwback to last year May-June period. Seriously at one point of time, I felt so exhausted especially after the transit at Los Angeles.

Part 1!
1st May: KUL ✈️ TPE (Taipei) - Race (Taipei 101 Run Up)
6th May: TPE ✈️ HKG (Hong Kong) - Transit
6th May: HKG ✈️ SFO (San Francisco) - Transit for more than half a day and visit my brother
7th May: SFO ✈️ ORD (Chicago) - Visit my friend, Tim
10th May: ORD ✈️ IWD (Ironwood) - Race (Redbull 400m Copperpeak)
12th May: IWD ✈️ ORD (Chicago) - Back to Tim's place
13th May: ORD ✈️ JFK (New York) - Race (Empire State Building Run Up)
15th May: JFK ✈️ LAX (Los Angeles) - Transit for more than half a day and sightseeing here and there)
16th May: LAX ✈️ PVG (Shanghai) - Transit
17th May: PVG ✈️ KHN (Nanchang) - Drop my baggage here in the hotel provided
17th May: Nanchang 🚅 Wuhan - Race (Wuhan Way Up High Run Up)
18th May: Wuhan 🚅 Nanchang Race - (ITGP Nanchang)
19th May: Nanchang 🚅 Wuhan - Back to Wuhan to catch the flight back home!
20th May: WUH ✈️ KUL (Kuala Lumpur) - Home Finally!
*Suppose to go home after the Empire State Building Run Up, but there are two races pop up in China on 18th and 19th May, and since I haven't book my flight back home from US, I decided to take part in both races in China and plot my flight there.

23rd May: KUL ✈️ HKG (Hong Kong) - Sightseeing, take train and bus to Shenzhen
*Cheaper flight ticket compare with direct to Shenzhen flight.
24th May: Hong Kong 🚇🚍 Shenzhen - Race (Shenzhen PingAn Finance Centre IVM)
26th May: Shenzhen 🚍🚇 Hong Kong - Back to Hong Kong to catch the flight back home!
26th May: HKG ✈️ KUL (Kuala Lumpur)

Part 3
30th May: KUL ✈️ PEK (Beijing) - Race (ITGP Beijing)
1st June: Beijing 🚅 Wuxi - Race (ITGP Wuxi)
2nd June: Wuxi ✈️ SIN (Singapore) - Transit

5th June: KUL ✈️ IST (Istanbul) - Transit for about half day, sightseeing around Istanbul

6th June: Madrid 🚅 Almeria
6th June: Almeria 🚕 El Ejido - Race (Carrera Vertical El Ejido)
9th June: El Ejido 🚍 Almeria - Stay a night here and sightseeing
10th June: Almeria 🚅 Murcia - Stay a night here and sightseeing
11th June: Murcia 🚅 Alicante - Stay a night here and Sightseeing
12th June: Alicante 🚅 Benidorm - Race (Subida Vertical Gran Bali)
17th June: Benidorm 🚍🚇🚅 Madrid 🚕 MAD (A long complex journey here, made some mistake here!) Thanks to the taxi driver on driving fast from the Madrid train station to the Airport.
*Almost missed this flight! Last one to enter the flight, is like less than 20-30 minutes before departure time! Thanks to the crew at the counter on making a call to the crew at the gate and told the flight attendants that there's one guy left. The guy printed out an empty flight ticket and wrote my name, flight number, seat number and hand me that ticket. Also would like to thanks to all the people on allowing me to cut the que and went to the security check, immigration counter first. Then sprint to the gate and board on the plane!
17th June: MAD ✈️ IST (Istanbul) - Transit
18th June: IST ✈️ KUL (Kuala Lumpur) - Home!

*Once in a lifetime on doing this kind of crazy trip, rush here and there at some point of time as I made some mistake throughout the journey, but I gained a lots of experience.
*Hoping that the pandemic will come to an end and we will have races again!
*I will still stay in the sport and improve my performance to another level. There are more rooms for me to improve my performance as I have not reach my peak still.

A young and dedicated athlete studied Sport Science Major in Exercise in University Malaya. Born in the year of 1994, 28th of September in Malaysia. Started his running career in the mid of 18 years old which is in the year 2012. First 10k timing were 55 minutes. And within a year of his running career, he managed to achieve Sub 40 for 10km. Now, his personal best for 5k - 16:04, 5,000m - 16:13 and 10k - 33:26, 10,000m - 35:16 minutes. Aiming to hit 5k - Sub 16 min by year 2017. His first Half Marathon timing were 1:44:51 which He did it without a proper training and is just 3 months right after he started running. In year of 2015, 1st of Feb, He managed to hit a 1:23:59 for Half Marathon with the 7 weeks Training Program. In Year 2017, he also won the Second Overall and Best Malaysian in KL Tower International Towerthon Challenge. With this achievement, it kick start his journey to participate in Vertical World Circuit. He represented Malaysia to Beijing Vertical Run as Elite Category and won 5th placing in his first vertical world circuit. He going to Shanghai, Osaka and Hong Kong for the last three vertical world circuit. Currently supported and sponsored by Garmin Malaysia, World of Sports - Mizuno, NulivScience US (Actigin), High 5 Sports Nutrition Malaysia, Lifeline ID, Beet It Sports Malaysia.
