🌻Morgan Stanley Mid-year Investor Outlook: A tricky transition

"It is vital (重要的) that you know what you own, that if I asked you on the street why you like a certain stock, you can give me three reasons. If you don't know how they make their money, who their key clients are and what they make if, then I will tell you that you are over your head and should not own individual stocks."
全文在此:
Jim Cramer: In Times Like This, Go for the Easy Money
Look at the stocks you own. Can you tell me why you've got them? If you can't answer the following three questions, then have a look at several I like right now.
We've endured the meme stock craziness, with all of its love for heavily shorted stocks. We have watched the collapse of bitcoin to levels viewed as shocking, even if they are still more than double where they were not that long ago. We've dealt with Fed officials making it clear that they are no longer on the side of the bulls or the bears. They are on the side of job growth, but are wary of inflation. We've seen the end of the rush to get vaccines, which means that millions of people are going to get the new COVID variant, because there is no natural immunity to it. We've watched as the hopes for an infrastructure bill have collapsed. We've endured shortages of everything from chips to plastic to imported goods and labor.
And we're still standing, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yep, we are in one of those halcyon moments, where the masks are off -- even if they shouldn't be -- and Americans are back doing what they do best: consume, spend, go out to eat and then consume and spend some more.
There are times in the stock market where the collective mindset is revealed. This is one of those times: Things are cool, it's not a big moment, there's no real news for a bit, it's the historically strong period and we can reach some conclusions about where we are.
When things are like this, it is important to remember that buyers like to revert to tried-and-true companies that thrive no matter what. These are companies that have an edge and are better at what they do than other companies.
You know that I am a great believer in index funds, that the average person doesn't have the time or the inclination to research individual stocks. It's a difficult barrier. I think you need to make time to read the quarterly report and listen to the conference call, to Google articles and, if possible, get some research about the companies you own. It is vital that you know what you own, that if I asked you on the street why you like a certain stock, you can give me three reasons. If you don't know how they make their money, who their key clients are and what they make if, then I will tell you that you are over your head and should not own individual stocks. I am reminded by this, because, once again, without a mask, I can be recognized and if I am not holding "Nvidia the Second," I can carry on a conversation.
I have had many in the last two weeks and when I have asked this litany of questions, I find myself at a loss as to why almost no one knew what they owned. But they thirsted for individual stocks, because they, like me, think things are better post pandemic. No, that's not a facetious comment. Many, many stocks did better with a stay-at-home economy. A huge number.
So what do I do? I revert to what others do when you are stumped about how to stay in touch with stocks, but want to do less homework. That means buying stocks that are accessible, not stocks like Unity (U) or Snowflake (SNOW) or Twilio (TWLO) or Okta (OKTA) .
I revert to normal businesses people know and I suggest they Google some articles, peruse the conference call, but, above all, like the company's products so you can buy more if it goes down.
Here's some that I have been telling people I like:
First is Ford (F) . I think the Ford lineup is amazing. The electric F-150 series will be incredible. I am eager to get a Maverick for my family, because it is a smaller pickup that will get the job done for the myriad little things I need to do with this farm I bought from that crazy bitcoin foray. I like the competitive edge of the CEO, who says he is going to bury Elon Musk when the Lightning comes out. I even think the Bronco is cool as all get out. Most important, though? I think the chip shortage is ending. My semiconductor friends are telling me the foundries are producing more feature-rich chips and that means Ford can pump out the trucks small business people love and need. Plus, the used car prices at last have plateaued, according to their most important pricing index. Halcyon times.
Second, Costco (COST) : The samples are coming back. Tell me you don't love the samples. You need things in bulk. You want low prices. You want to get all of the things that people don't think of with Costco, like insurance, hearing-aids -- hey, they are a fortune -- jewelry, things around the house. You go and you will buy far more than you first came for. My kind of store.
The kids love this American Eagle Outfitters (AEO) , which we just bought for my charitable trust, which you can follow along by joining the Action Alerts PLUS club. Jay Schottenstein, the CEO, came on "Mad Money" recently and it's clear that his Aerie model has real staying power: 26 consecutive quarters of double digit growth. No flash in the pan, that one. Number one brand in jeans for the 15 to 25 year old group. The best in the mall. How did I know this? I see the credit card bills.
I got up this morning to do my physical therapy. I have been doing it ever since I hurt my back in February. I have this really cool pair of sneakers that fit me perfectly and I love them, but I am fortunate enough to have a vacation house and I am always taking those shoes with me.
So I went on Amazon (AMZN) this morning and lo and behold I saw them for half price. I bought two pairs. Then I went over everything I have bought in the last year and got a bunch of those things. Then I bought a pair of binoculars, because mine were stolen. I paid half price.
Yep, Amazon's universal. I was talking to Alexa, while I was ordering, getting some new music on, asking questions. I saw that despite all of the Sturm und Drang of Amazon being late with things, all the delivery dates were within range. I didn't click on any ads, and I didn't need the speed of Web Services, but the whole thing reminded me about how special the darned company is. I don't care if it's ahead or behind plan for the moment. I would just buy some more when it goes down.
Finally, Apple (AAPL) . I think people who don't own Apple should look what they are holding at this very moment. Yes, right now. Or look at what's in your lap or on the table besides your fork. And then think about the bill you paid last night without knowing it. Think about what you bought in the App store yesterday. Think about what would happen if it would break or get stolen or, left in the Uber (UBER) , or heaven forbid, be dropped into the pool or in the, yes, toilet.
There, that's what you buy in halcyon times. Stocks of companies you know that if they go lower, because things get less halcyon, you are fine with it and buy more. If things go up, believe me, you will participate.
So accept the moment. Don't try for the hard money. Go for the easy kind. That's the best kind.

Comment YES if you agree!
"7289????" Daniel was shocked to see the drastic increase in the number of covid cases. He received the msg in one of his whatsapp groups.
"I don't know what the hell are these people doing until there are so many cases...🙄" he replied in the group.
Shortly after that,
"Ma, I'm going to my friends house for a while... I told him to give me all the pictures of the "secret gathering" we had yesterday, in a thumb drive.. Cannot upload on FB, they will catch, so I'm going to take it secretly.. 😁", he said while laughing.
Mother : "Ok boy, come back fast ok... I cooked your favourite mutton curry..
Too many Covid cases around... Dad and myself have not gone out for a long time because of this... Pls don't bring back any virus ok..."
Daniel laughed... "OK maa.. The way u are saying is as if I'm going to pack the virus and bring it back...🤣"
So Daniel went to James's house.
Lunch was ready, so James's mother invited him inside for lunch. James's mother know the covid cases are increasing, but she felt this boy doesn't have Covid because she knows this boy for such a long time. Daniel also know the Covid cases are increasing, but he felt this family won't have covid because they are like family to him too. Daniel loved all of them so much, especially the aunty. She always cooked for him.
So he went inside, took his mask off, asked them for a plastic to keep his mask so he can use it later when he is going back home, hugged everyone, everyone hugged him back, had his lunch together with the whole family, and had a great time catching up....
Then he went back home.
The next day, Daniel got a call from his Boss that one of his colleagues has been tested positive, so all of them have to do the swab. He hit his forehead and said "OK Boss, I will go and do."
Before doing the swab, he went to the supermarket. There he met another old friend, Ben after a long time. While talking, they both removed their masks because they are meeting after a long time.
Ben just got a baby after 10 years of waiting. Sincerely delighted with the news, Daniel gave Ben a big, tight hug before leaving.
"We will all come and visit the baby soon brother" he said...
Then he went for the Covid swab and went back home.
The next day, he received a call from the doctor that his swab results is positive.
He shouted back at the doctor "Cannot be laa doc!!! I don't have any symptoms... I wore mask everywhere I went what!!!"
Now - the most important part....
The Doctor tells him "Mr Daniel, now u have to give us a list of people that you had close contact with for the past few days, without leaving anyone out. They all need to do the swab."
So Daniel wrote the list down.
This time, he didn't laugh anymore.
His hand was trembling while writing, because they were all his loved ones.
In the list, were his parents & siblings who stayed with him, his friends that he met during the secret gathering, his girlfriend that he drove all around with, James, James's family, Ben...
"God, pls let this end with me... I hope I didn't pass it to anyone...How if anything happens to anyone of them because of me? God, none of them must be positive, please... " he prayed silently, wiping his tears.
So all their results came back the following day. His parents were positive, 4 of his friends that he met in the secret gathering was positive, James was positive, James's mother was positive, Ben was positive, Ben's precious baby was positive.
________
After 4 days, Daniel's mother was admitted to ICU.
During her last video call before intubation, she told him,
"Boy... Remember that I love you a lot... Take care of Dad... Dont feel bad that you brought the virus home... Either way also I am old already, that's why I can't cope... Remember its not your fault ok..."
She didn't make it in the end, and they couldn't even do the funeral.
While this was going on, he received a msg that James's mother needs to be admitted to ICU but all the ICUs are full at the moment, so she is still waiting in the normal ward, praying hard and hoping to get an ICU bed soon. According to James, the frontliners are going out of their way to help her with whatever they have, while waiting for the bed.
Daniel could only cry out loudly, but he can't undo what he has done. Now he finally understands how the number has increased.
Moral of the story :
With the increasing number of cases, every person you meet may either be a close contact, a contact's contact, or a POSITIVE COVID.
But you know what is the good news? You can avoid Daniel's situation if you stay at home.

【Startup Adventure 】Social Innovation Lab Sharing What is social innovation?
Why does everyone talk about "social innovation"? You probably curious about what exactly is social innovation?
Audrey Tang said “everyone’s business, everyone helps.” People work together to find out the solution for solving the problem in society. Now
*Let’s know more about what is “Social innovation”`?
The core concept of social innovation is to find ways to solve social problems in an "innovative" way. Through these innovation ways can create better value to the whole society! Social innovation has no specific form or rules, no matter who you are, you can always be an important part of promoting social innovation!
Follow the newest information here: https://si.taiwan.gov.tw/
*What is “Digital social innovation”?
As long as you add “digital” elements to social innovation actions, it is “Digital Social Innovation (DSI)”.
Here are some successful cases with digital innovation features:
*Crowdfunding:
For example, tens of thousands of people joined the fundraising of “Taiwan Can Help” advertisement to let the advertising appear on the New York Times. After the advertisement published, the community made the second creation of it is also a classic case of digital social innovation. Another example was the Hong Kong’s Causeway Bay Bookstore reopened in Taiwan, it got the support of nearly 6 million Taiwan dollars through crowdfunding as well.
*Geographic Information Cooperation
First example, do you know
Do you know that people in Taiwan use at least 1 billion bottles of bottled water every year? In order to reduce the plastic pollution and carbon emissions caused by bottled water, “CircuPlus” cooperate with the Environmental Protection Agency to sort out the open geographic map of drinking fountains. Besides, CircuPlus invited enterprises to join together and to set more drinking fountains bases in Taiwan. As long as you download the APP, you can not only find the way to get drink but also can easily add new drinking fountain bases as well. Then you can also accumulate CircuPlus points for goods exchanging.
In addition, the “Citizen of the Earth, Taiwan” encouraged people to join the Illegal Factory established on Farmland action, the “Taiwan Roadkill Observation Network” raise people to report the situation of killed animals on roads are also parts of the geographic map information collaboration.
*Open data/open government:
For example, the mask map was been created during this epidemic period. The mask map is a platform that can quickly corresponding to the supply and demand of the amount of masks. This platform was developing by private programmers who use open data provided by the government, so that everyone can get fair information.
You could check the other successful cases such as the Mengdian (super easy to use) using the CC authorized dictionary of the Ministry of Education, and the 2020 Presidents Cup Hackathon, finding a "good planting land in Taiwan" suitable for tree planting public land as well.
