Lineage W เป็นเกมภาคใหม่ที่พัฒนาต่อยอด หรือสานต่อเจตนารมณ์จาก Lineage ภาคแรกอย่างแท้จริง โดยเกมดังกล่าวมีกลยุทธ์ชัดเจนว่าต้องการตีตลาดให้สามารถเข้าถึงเกมเมอร์ทั่วโลก ทีมงานจึงตั้งชื่อภาคว่า W ซึ่งหมายถึง "Worldwide"

ตัวเกมมีเนื้อหาเป็นแนวดาร์กแฟนตาซี ซึ่งนำเสนอโลกเกมได้อย่างสวยงามด้วยกราฟิกสามมิติ และวิชวลเอฟเฟกต์คุณภาพสูง รวมถึงระบบเกมเพลย์มีการพัฒนาต่อยอดจากภาคแรก พร้อมกับเนื้อเรื่องน่าติดตาม มีลักษณะการเล่าเรื่องที่หลากหลาย และสัญญาว่าจะมีการปรับปรุงกับเพิ่มคอนเทนต์ทุกช่วงระหว่างการเปิดให้บริการ
