【Startup Adventure】🎉AWE opens arms to all applicants admitted to the academy 🎉

#AWE The Academy for Women Entrepreneurs held an online welcome reception on June 30, to officially welcome its 11 female facilitators and 133 outstanding participants who stood out from the 400 applicants!

In their remarks, Director General Dr. Ching-Tsang Ho, and Deputy Director General Betty Hu of MOEA’s Small and Medium Enterprise Administration, as well as Diane Sovereign, the AIT Public Diplomacy Section Chief, stressed the importance of women’s economic empowerment. They hope to create a startup environment that is favorable to women developing their businesses through encouraging them to be entrepreneurs and participate in our economies.

Coming up next, AWE will hold a series of events! Participants will join an international women entrepreneurs community after finishing their training, and become part of a global network!

【Startup Adventure】Superwoman－Taking care of children and business💪

How can women entrepreneurs balance business and family at home?

As an entrepreneur and a mother, working from home during the pandemic, have you encountered:
👉halfway through work, kids rush in to find the mom?
👉kids study online at home but get distracted all the time?
👉how to use digital technology to manage business and employees remotely?

The Women Entrepreneurship Program invites mentors and a mentee of Academy for Women Entrepreneurs, including

✨Viola Cheng, the CEO of Good Food Enterprise Co.,Ltd
✨Ashley Fan, the Co-founder of Orice Co. Ltd.,
to share their stories. Let's see how they did it!

Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (#AWE) was initiated by the U.S. Department State and jointly implemented by the American Institute in Taiwan and the Small and Medium Enterprise Administration of the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

The program has recruited 133 female entrepreneurs, who will receive mentoring from 11 successful female entrepreneurs, attend events, and complete online courses. We hope that more women will become entrepreneurs in the future❤️

I’m officially Crisel Consunji, M.Ed. 🌈

After two and a half years of attending courses— while running a business, promoting a film internationally, managing through socio-political upheaval, and going through the pandemic— it’s a bit of a small miracle that I was able to get this done.

I have to say thanks to everyone who put up with me through this journey— Carsten for giving up our weeknights so I could attend classes, to my colleagues who tolerated my zoom classes in the office, and my professors who exercised understanding and patience when I couldn’t submit my papers on time. (Heaven knows how bad my papers were during my times of stress!)

But really, people ask me why I gave so much time and resources on this project. It’s quite simple: In these past few years, I’ve realised even more how integral arts-based education is, and yet how little attention is being given to it.

Arts Education seems often relegated to the “extra-curricular” when it is in fact core curriculum in the early years. Imagine teaching numbers and letters without music, or building vocabulary without movement or creative play!

Ultimately, my big dream is to support capacity building and program support within schools, early childhood educators, community organisations, and the families themselves.

I’d consider our job done when there is arts-based learning in every early childhood school, in every community centre, and in every home.

So let’s keep moving forward! 💪🏼
