Many folks may not know that my first Blues instructor was the Great Tomo Fugita! @tomojustfunky He tried to teach me the importance of phrasing, repetition and leaving space. At that time (being only 18) I was like “Naw, I’m just going to play really really fast and at the end I’ll hold a high note. It took me years to realize what he was trying to teach me. Oh well, better late then never 😁🤦🏽‍♂️ 🤦🏽‍♂️

Today, Derek and I have a little toast at home to celebrate the achievement of our dental practice for receiving a SME Award from DHL SCMP Business Annual Award. Three years of continuous refinement and unfaltering belief that if we always put our patient first, all the good things shall follow.

I would like to share, Derek’s speech during the online award ceremony.

” On behalf of @centralsmilehk , we are truly honoured and grateful to the “HK Business Awards”, South China Morning Post and DHL for awarding us the SME Award for 2020. Thank you.

Central Smile was founded just over three years ago. I never could have imagined the opportunities and challenges we have faced over this short period.

Although the name Small and Medium Size Enterprises gives a notion of a “petite” industry. But in fact, SME’s account for almost 50% of total employment in HK. So collectively we are by no means “small”.

There have been obvious challenges for SME’s and government initiatives such as the “Employment Support Scheme” and “SME Loan Guarantee Scheme” have been instrumental in keeping many businesses afloat. We hope such schemes will continue to support local businesses as we overcome this pandemic together.

I am optimistic about our future. As a society, we have faced many challenges before; The Asian Financial Crisis, SARS, social unrest and now COVID. Hong Kongers have always been entrepreneurial, spirited and hard working. Qualities fit for battle hardened society to flourish. There are many opportunities on the horizon and we look forward to expansion possibilities locally and further afield in the Greater Bay Area.

Personally I would like to also take this opportunity to share my gratitude and recognise the people that have been instrumental. Namely my wife @rosannewng, my parents Vivian and Richard Baram, the management team and all team members at Central Smile. Without your help, Central Smile would not be what it is today.

We don’t take this award for granted. It will spur us on. We hope to continue to develop into something we and our society can be proud of.”

Malaysian talents to the WORLD! Just like Yuna, Gary Chaw, Fish Leong, Henry Golding, THE Michelle Yeoh, Lee Sinje (I could go on) etc we have immense talent in this country that is WORLD class!

I met Suzanne Low 2018 (sorry i accidentally put 2008 in video) when i was hosting Pavilion Parkson Elite's Xmas Bash where she was performing with her friends/ band from Penang - a bunch of extremely talented and individual musicians. Bonding over our mutual love for Khalil Fong and soulful music, i found out shortly that not only was she a strong contender in the VOICE 2017 (msia/sg) and SING!CHINA 2018 - both of which she came so CLOSE to winning, she had this satiny voice that could melt your soul!

Bad Habits雖然是在探討酗酒、徹夜狂歡等壞習慣是如何地難以戒掉並且打亂生活的步調，即便明知這樣對自己和身邊的人都沒有好處，卻還是一再地在片刻歡愉的面前妥協投降。

大家在疫情期間千萬不要因為心情低落就尋求慰藉（酒精或手機成癮都是要注意的）
可以靜下心來想想自己未來，最重要的是只能對我的音樂上癮啦 😆

Ed Sheeran’s latest Single, Bad Habits, has been sweeping iTunes in the UK since its release lats week wowwwww

Bad Habits is not only musically different from the previous style of Ed, the energy with EDM style is also the new highlight of this new Single.

Although Bad Habits is saying something like how difficult it is to quit the problems like alcoholic and all-night partying, even if those who are addicted are quite aware of the fact that its not good for themselves and for people around them, they still indulge in the moment of happiness from the addiction. Personally, I think it's quite like the situation of catching feelings with the wrong one LOL We bear in mind that we should say no, but we cannot help and ridiculously just cannot go away from the wrong one.

But it's okay =] Just being aware of the problem is good enough.
Getting better step by step, even a baby step is fine! The addiction state may be the signal telling you to protect yourself n being happy but the addition is not the only way that can make you happy, so try another way :)

During the epidemic of Covid, please dont be addicted to drugs or anything else. It's my honor if you can be addicted my music tho 😆

I said I'm gonna try something new, and THE PIANO TAKE series is one of them. I always like to do collaboration with others, although the views (generally speaking) won't go so well due to the algorithm. Actually comparing to piano solo, I more prefer to do the piano accompany or a producer. This series has come to my mind for a long time, and the recent awesome projects done by "THE FIRST TAKE" inspired and encourage me to start to do this.
