上面這段歌詞出自 The Platter （aka 五黑寶合唱團）所演唱的美國告示牌冠
軍單曲《The Great Pretender》，這首歌曲後來被多次翻唱，皇后樂團的主唱
佛萊迪·墨裘瑞就是其中之一。如果你仔細研究過歌詞，也對佛萊迪·墨裘瑞的
人生略知一二，就會發現這首歌根本是他的寫照。
2012 年，由瑞斯·托馬斯為英國國家廣播公司 BBC One 拍攝的得獎紀錄片
《佛萊迪·墨裘瑞：大偽裝家》Freddie Mercury：The Great Pretender
便這首歌曲為題，聚焦在皇后樂團主唱佛萊迪·墨裘瑞身上以及他嘗試單飛後的
發展。
在 1984 年發行的《I Want Break Free》音樂錄影帶中，就已經看到佛萊迪
對於自我性向的掙扎，和其他團員在創作理念上的摩擦，則成為出走的近因。
脫團之後，發行的專輯即便理念美好，卻距離市場有段距離，缺乏買氣。
陷入低潮之際，西班牙女高音卡芭葉向他遞出善意的橄欖枝，邀請他在 1992
年巴塞隆納奧運開幕儀式上同台獻唱主題曲《Barcelona》，兩人在當時用驚
艷的歌聲震懾了全球觀眾。此後，佛萊迪重回皇后樂團，身體健康狀況卻每況
愈下。
觀看本片時，當下心情不禁會隨著卸下偽裝，脫去面具，嘗試做真我的佛萊迪
心境起落。那些曾經在舞台前響起，教人震耳欲聾的浪潮般掌聲、獨自一人時的
落寞、後期帶著憔悴病容的侃侃而談，都讓人對這位搖滾樂傳奇人物有了不同
層面的認識。
