在日文裡,光是「鬆餅」就有三種不同單字。分別為「ワッフルwaffle 」、「パンケーキpan cake」、「ホットケーキhotcake」。前面兩者的定義和台灣大同小異,但最後一個直譯會變成「熱蛋糕」的又是他們自創的和製英語。😂
這個通常是指在喫茶店菜單上常可見到用銅板現做的鬆餅。跟有空氣感的厚鬆餅或薄嫩的美式鬆餅比起來,這種的口感偏紮實,即便有些店家提供雙層厚鬆餅,但刀子一切就知道完全不同。
復古懷舊的鬆餅歷史可以追朔至近百年前,東京日本橋某間百貨公司的食堂推出了鬆餅甜點,當時菜單上就寫著「hotcake」,後來到了昭和時代,這個僅在日本特殊獨有的稱呼就這樣普及開來。
其實不管哪種我都很喜歡吃,而且還有固定會去的店。被譽為世界第一美味早餐的Bills、多次被美國媒體給予高評的早午餐店Clinton Street Baking Company(造訪紐約時還特地去吃了!❤️),而喫茶店的話,則推薦上野的王城與錦系町的nit。
