I just learned of #ElijahMcClain. I cannot handle his story. His volunteering to play violin at an animal shelter to calm the animals speaks to a kind, young, compassionate man. His violent death in August 2019, at the hands of Aurora PD after a carotid choke hold and the pressure on his chest caused this 23 year old man to vomit, and the paramedics who responded to the call and per guidance from the PO, administered ketamine due to his agitated state. He suffered two cardiac arrests in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.

All three responding officers miraculously had their camera fall off during the call. Their audio still worked. During the call, while applying the carotid choke hold, the officer is heard telling another officer who was picking one of the cameras, “Move the camera, dude.” He intentionally was avoiding being caught on camera doing what he was doing. Because the audio worked, we have Elijah’s last statements to the police:

“I can’t breath. I have my ID right here. My name is Elijah McClain. That’s my house. I am just going home. I’m an introvert. I’m just different. That’s all. I’m so sorry. I don’t have a gun. I don’t do that stuff. I don’t do any fighting. Why are you attacking me? I don’t even kill flies! I don’t eat meat! But I don’t judge people, I don’t judge people who do eat meat. Forgive me. All I was trying to do was become better. I will do it. I will do anything. Sacrifice my identity. I’ll do it. You are all phenomenal. You are beautiful. And I love you. Try to forgive me. I am a mood Gemini. I’m sorry. I am so sorry. Ow, that really hurt. You all are very strong. Teamwork makes the dream work....(crying)...oh I’m sorry, I wasn’t trying to do that, I just can’t breath correctly.”

But THIS IS NOT ENOUGH!

THE KILLERS, Officers Nathan Woodyard, Jason Rosenblatt and Randy Roedema have been re-assigned by the police department but are still GETTING PAID with taxpayer dollars. This is not right and we need to continue to apply pressure to our elected officials.

303-866-2471 to demand that the officers are fired immediately while the investigation proceeds.

Additionally, District Attorney Dave Young declined to file criminal charges and he should RESIGN IMMEDIATELY for not holding the officers accountable.

***Please demand of Governor Polis that DA Dave Young is removed from his position for willfully and persistently failing to perform his duty to file criminal charges against the officers who killed Elijah.”

黃刀鎮 Yellowknife│-30°C 下的溫暖 (葷素共融)

黃刀鎮的冬天，-30°C 至 -50°C 的氣溫是非常正常的。在如此冷的天氣下旅行，是什麼感覺的呢？就是... 常常想到躲進室內 🙈 特別像「Woodyard」這種以木頭搭建的餐廳，看到就覺得暖暖的，裡面的裝潢燈光，更顯溫馨~

這裡最有名的其實是他們的自家啤酒，那不喝酒的我來這是為了什麼？其實真的就是被其小木屋迷住了，幸好他們也有提供幾款素食料理。

「Tempura Vegetables (CA14)」，只要把蛋黃醬拿走，就是vegan了，店員還很細心地幫我去廚房確認呢！另外一款「Black Bean Burrito (CA16)」，看起來很好吃，可惜裡面的cheese拿不走，所以是蛋奶素。還有一款「Vegetable Curry (CA21)」，咖哩耶！可是只有晚餐才供應，下次還有機會的！

The temperatures is very normal between -30°C and -50°C in the winter of Yellowknife. How does it feel to travel in such a cold weather? You will often think of hiding in a room. 🙈 A restaurant made of wood, such as "Woodyard", feels warm when you see it, and the decoration and lights inside made you feel even warmer.

Their own beer is actually very famous here, and I don't drink so why would I come here? In fact, I was attracted by their wood cabin. Fortunately, they also offer several veg dishes.

"Tempura Vegetables (CA14)", as long as you remove the mayo, it's vegan. The server even helped me go to the kitchen to confirm it! The other one - "Black Bean Burrito (CA16)" looks delicious, but unfortunately the cheese in it can't be taken away, so it's for vegetarian. There is also a "Vegetable Curry (CA21)", YES! CURRY! But it's only served for dinner, I will definitely come next time to try this!
