Supernaturally Supported by God’s Command
“Peter answered him and said, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the waters.” He said, “Come!” Peter stepped down from the boat, and walked on the waters to come to Jesus.” (Matthew 14:28-29 WEB)
Peter didn’t walk on water alone. He was supported by the command that Jesus issued in the word “Come”.
The water didn’t change, but Peter did. Peter took on a supernatural quality that transcended the laws of nature, able to walk on water instead of sinking.
When God speaks to you and issues you a command, He backs up that command with authority and power.
When we pray, we ought to wait for that inward confirmation whereby the Holy Spirit says “Come,” to us and supplies the peace to assure us.
There are many promises in the Bible, and the Holy Spirit will emphasize and impart miracle-working faith for specific promises at times for your situation.
We must be Spirit-led, and not presumptuous. Without the command to “Come,” let’s not rush ahead of God’s timing, stepping out of the boat only to drown.
We can be like Peter who stated his request, but we must wait for the command from God. Pray until the confirmation comes.
“But when he saw that the wind was strong, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand, took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”” (Matthew 14:30-31 WEB)
Even after God gives us the confirmation, the authority and power supplied in the command are not absolute—it has to be activated through faith.
When Peter didn’t doubt, he could water on water. When he doubted, he began to sink.
The key to eradicating doubt is to keep your eyes on Jesus. When you’re in the process of “walking on water” in your situation, remember the command that God gave you, and keep your eyes on Jesus who is your stable Rock and Anchor.
When faith is mixed with the word that God gave to you, you will rise above every storm in your life!
