Yesterday, I took my daughter out for a little lunch date just the both of us. A little banana leaf rice with a sweet ice cold teh tarik.
I specifically ordered it without a straw but as our waiter came with our drinks, so excited to serve the happiest little girl and I, I didn’t have the heart to remind him that we really didn’t want straws so I didn’t say anything.
***
After he left, out of nowhere, Ella Grace looked me in the eye, lowered her voice and said, “Mama, I’m so sorry he gave you a straw. You didn’t want one. What can we do to make it better, mama?”
My heart, oh my mama heart. ❤️😭

A few weeks ago at another Toddler Workshop, someone in the audience asked why would I “apologize” and say sorry to my child for something that isn’t my fault especially if she’s in the middle of a meltdown about a stinking red cup or blue cup.
I tried to explain that it wasn’t so much saying that it was my fault but just making space and empathizing and acknowledging. Respectful Parenting at it’s core, is learning to see the world through our little’s eyes and responding as a parent. Teaching her empathy by role modeling empathy.

This little sweet story? This is the heart of why I do what I do.
I’m a Child & Family Development Specialist but I am first and foremost a mama, trying to raise her little girl to be kind, compassionate, confident, resilient.
I am passionate about this because I have a toddler too, I know the worry and the guilt and the pressure. I know the hard heart work and the sleep deprivation. I’m in the thick of the threenager years but mama, oh mama, we got this.

If you’re free tomorrow, please come join me for an afternoon of tools, resources and a safe space to start again at my Toddler Wars workshop with Kidxy.
You’ll learn the RACHEAL Method, the how, what, why, but my hope for you is that, you’ll get to experience this moment. Where your little goofy wild fun-loving toddler surprises you with so much kindness and you walk out of the restaurant confident, proud, in love with the little person she is becoming and remember again, all the reasons why you mama.
❤️❤️❤️

Good morning!
I’ve had a few requests this week on thoughtful teacher gifts in a range of budgets as the school term ends so I thought I would share what our mama tribe at Ella Grace’s school put together. 😍❤️🎉
***
A good #kacaumamahack?
Combine your resources and gift together!
Each gift basket cost about RM250 per teacher for ten teachers but because all the lovely parents got involved, it made it pretty affordable when we split the cost across 20 families but was still able to get something nice, thoughtful, and personal.
**
The teachers at her school usually bring their lunch to school and spend all day running around with our crazies so our gift basket kinda reflected that:
- travel tumbler / coffee mug (The Batik Boutique)
- tiffin carrier (ARCADIA)
- instant brewed coffee (SquEEEze Me Baby)
- organic chocolate (Green & Black's from Ben's Independent Grocer)
- vitamin c (Redoxon from CARiNG PHARMACY)
- pocket chia seeds (Ben's Independent Grocer)
- calming lavender hand lotion (Crabtree & Evelyn Malaysia)
- gourmet ice cream voucher (Kind Kones)
Of course, you can pick and choose or add according to your budget and if you have no budget at all, as a former teacher, some of my favorite gifts were also sweet homemade cards, a little video message, or maybe just a silly song the kids sang together.

Remember, it's the thought and sincerity that counts, so whether you have RM1 or RM200, it was mostly just teaching our littles the beautiful art of saying thank you.
Ella Grace helped me pack it all and as we put it together, we got to talk about what her teachers do for her everyday, why we picked the gifts we did, and helped her to really reflect and process what it means to care for each other.

So excited to be able to connect and empower a room full of mamas and daddies at the Antenatal Workshop today!
I loved being able to give them the tools and resources to battle the baby blues, strengthen their marriage and build their mama tribe. It’s the talk I wish I got and every new parent gets before they have a baby.
Honestly, the first 100 days are going to be the hardest, your marriage will take a beating, you will question everything you know or thought you knew, you will need community and someone to lean on, but most of all, you will need a reminder just to breathe mama, be kind to yourself, you’re going to be okay.
This is Aina, one of the mamas that was there with her husband. When we talked and workshopped about connecting and taking time out for your marriage, her husband and her had such a tender moment and she came just to say thank you.
Thank you Aina, for making my job the coolest job in the world. You made my entire afternoon with your enthusiasm, joy, and kindness. I’m so proud of the tools you learned today and so excited to see it grow your marriage as you welcome a little one.
You got this, mamas! ❤️
Ps. Next week, I have another workshop with Nestle and Columbia Asia Hospital on an Intro to Respectful Parenting. Come join us!
